Top Law Schools

So it seems that most law schools will allow you to spend a semester as a visiting student with the permission of the school you're attending. Is there any point to this? Even assuming that your home school agrees to count your courses for credit and everything, what's the appeal, since the curriculum at every school seems to be virtually identical?

Anyone have any experience with this?

You can usually do it for a year, too. If you end up wanting to work in a location far from where you're going to school, it can make sense to visit a school 3L in the location where you want to be, so you can intern/extern/network/make connections locally.

(Technically speaking, you could also do this to take advantaged of some specialized curriculum your own school lacks, except that I can't think of any specialized curriculum that would actually make a practical difference to anyone's career. Maybe if you were going into academia.)

I'm planning on completing 3L at another school that is in Florida because I am currently in MD and life circumstances have made me want to return to Florida to practice after graduation. My homeschool actually encouraged me to do a visiting year/semester in order to network, pass the bar and find a job. You get access to the visiting schools career office and bar offices which can help.
