Do highlights and margin notes in used textbooks help?

Post by bdm261 » Mon Jul 15, 2013 2:05 pm

I just picked up my 1L books and half are used and the other half new. I opened my Property casebook and saw some highlighted portions, it looks like they isolated the issues, holding, etc. Does anyone benefit from a previous textbook users notes and highlights, or can it be unwise to rely on them?

Depends on who had the book before you. If the person is on LR and in the top 10%, the marginal notes & highlighting could be very helpful. On the other hand, the person could be dead last in their class, or worse yet, not there anymore, and the notations could be awful.
