Switching schools after failing out of another law school

Post by BayAreaGuy » Fri May 24, 2013 6:15 pm

Let's say I'm attending a non-ABA school, and I'm applying to an ABA school where I'll have to start over.

Suppose I get accepted to the ABA school, but I just failed out of the non-ABA school because my GPA was slightly below a 2.0.

Will the non-ABA school report this to the State Bar, and will the ABA school find out about this, and would they care?

I'm asking because I'm in this situation, only I haven't failed out. Like most 1L's, I'm slightly nervous about my grades. Even if I did fail, I could still try to petition them and get back in.

Thanks.

Well, if you transfer, you have to provide your previous school's transcript, right? So I would think that yes, the ABA school would find out about it, and they would care.

I edited the title.

It's not a transfer, it's simply applying to a new school and starting over.

thanks

Almost all ABA schools ask on the application if you have ever attended any law school. If you have you need to provide a transcript.

Lying would be a very bad idea.

haha looks like this guy applied to some law school while concurrently about to fail out of another law school, without mentioning that he is already enrolled to the relevant school.

Verdict: FAIL
