ask them for coffee or lunch. Dinner is weird. They all take lunches most of the time anyway, and if they don't they would probably be happy to meet up for coffee during the day. Dinner can seem like you're going on a date. I'm sure they'll make time for you if you actually connected with them. good luck.jad0re wrote:0L here. I have some possibly stupid questions that I was hoping someone could help with.
A while back, I visited a big law in my city and got introduced to some lawyers via an alum(partner). Now I want to meet with them 1:1 and take some time to get to know them, possibly over a meal. But I'm quite concerned about how I should take the next step.
I mean, I hear biglaw life is extremely busy that people get like 30 minutes or something for lunch. I feel like this isn't enough time, or is this how everyone does it? Yet wouldn't inviting them to dinner be awkward in a way? If I were them I personally would just want to go straight home after work. Also one of them is a recent law school grad of opposite gender who looks around my age. I might be overthinking stuff but wouldn't asking him sound like a date proposition, which would make things super awkward?
Help me TLSers! What should I say?
