Reminds me of a post about "nice guys" on Jezebel.

Yes you can. I'm not talking about true love, here. I'm talking about making an investment in my future with a woman.

I can see that it's the romance that will be luring them in.

Women are like stocks: If you pick the wrong one and invest heavily in them, they will ruin you financially.

OP is a troll.

But there is some truth to his skewed logic. Most relationships between non-law students and law students end by 2L year. That might be something to consider before getting into a relationship.

TCR is getting an engineering girl pregnant now, have a shotgun wedding, then when you have an enormous amount of debt and she's a successful engineer, divorce her and take half.

Wow, those words bring no milkshake to your yard.

I hope you realize that a woman doesn't come with a scholarship offer. Just sayin....

Haha... you're kidding? Where do you live? Mississippi?

First of all, I'm not a troll.

Second, what the hell are all of you at top law schools doing when you think about marrying someone?

You're telling me that their profession, their family, their future potential/earnings aren't a major factor in your decision?

Just like the fact of whether they are going to stay around or not after you've spent so much time and money on them.

I'm not saying go marry a stranger because she's a doctor. But damn, this isn't Jersey Shore. Have some sense.

Not sure that the fail rate of non-law student and law student relationships is that abnormal compared to the average success rate of any relationship that long.

There is actually a workaholic chick that I know who has never been with anyone before (you know what I mean). She'd stick around for sure if I wanted her to.

She makes over 70,000 and just graduated from my class last spring.

Now, that's not a ton of money, but her job is stable. I'm thinking...

But I've also been trying to convince her to go to medical school hehe

But seriously, don't think the OP is going to change his mind.
But when has that ever stopped a thread from developing?

Yeah, and the more criteria you pile on, the less you can reliably find someone who fits the bill at the time of your life you want to.

You brought up nothing about family. But you instantly closed off everyone that didn't go to your school and isn't an engineer. Seems like you aren't really opening up your eyes at all. You can't just decide that you want to marry a person fitting Formula X, part of it is about sheer blind luck, rather than meticulous planning and trying to plan when to seduce a girl (this is essentially what you're suggesting).

Really? That's disgusting.

You guys really aren't relating to wanting to find a rich wife/someone who won't leave you?

I mean, obviously someone wouldn't marry anyone that they didn't like. But even if I like a girl, I don't even think about her if she isn't going to make a lot of money. It's like, no future+compatibility=no go. There will always be someone you can be compatible with who also has a bright future and is very ambitious. It can't be that hard to find...

There aren't plenty of girls in engineering of any caliber.

Okay, if you're actually serious, you need to realize how this comes off. It's like you've never had a relationship before and also like you don't understand how human emotions work. Just focus on learning how to date for the moment and worry about marriage later.

That's not true. The engineering field is changing before my eyes. There are actually quite a few hot sorority-type girls in the freshman classes now who actually work their butts off and do quite well.

But that's off topic. So do lawyers not marry other lawyers a lot? Or other financially successful and ambitious people?
