Question: how do people typically go about asking upperclassmen for outlines?

There is an outline database that only SLS students can access (maintained by one of the journals) where the outlines are stored. People are encouraged at the end of the quarter to upload their outlines. You typically work from those, find the best one, and don't need to ask anyone else.

Ah great to know! Thank you!

Sorry for such a specific question, but any tips on where to find "extra long full" bedding for the oddly-sized beds in Munger?

I just bought queen sized sheets. Works well.

They weren't oddly baggy? Thank you! (Finding extra long sheets is surprisingly hard.)

Not baggy at all. Literally just bought some queen size sheets from Walmart.com and they've served me well.

I heard that there is a lsat tutor/ tutoring place near stanford where many stan students take lsat classes for prep. IIRC it's not one of the major prep companies like BP/testmasters. Anyone heard of this prep place or can speak to it?

Do people typically get the "optional" textbooks that SLS lists for each course? Are they necessary?

Current 1L who just got started at SLS --

Will I hate myself if I sign up for two pro bono projects?

Hi,

1) Can any accepted law school students talk about what sorts of extracurriculars they did in college?

2) Opinions on joining a pre-law fraternity for internship/networking connections? (My current mode of thinking: pre-law frat connections --> prestigious internships --> tie breaker for law school admissions between someone else w/ same LSAT/GPA as me)

Thanks in advance!

The tie breaker between two people with the same numbers is going to be about who really pursued their passions and interests. Join the pre-law fraternity only if you love it. If you don't, redirect your time to something you love. There's no formula for getting here, and if you try to find one, you're wasting your time! Get the numbers, enjoy undergrad to its fullest, and do whatever makes your heart sing. Your personal statement and letters of rec will show it.

Yes. Maybe not if you forego a journal--but I would do one pro bono and a journal.

I know someone who did two pro bonos. It was a ton of work but this was a very PI person and (s)he felt like the pro bonos kept her engaged in her studies (since she could see the actual applications). Personally, I think it's unnecessary but it's doable.

1) I literally didn't do any extracurriculars.

2) It can't hurt but I don't think it will be very valuable. But if you're sure you want to go to law school, why not join it?

Am I going to hate myself for not doing a pro bono? None of them jumped out at me.

You will probably really hate it if you force yourself to do it. It can be painful to spend six hours in EPA thinking about how you should be working on your LRW brief, but this is usually counteracted by "what I'm doing is cool/helping people." If you're not going to have that feeling, I would avoid.

There's actually a new thread for this haha. Maybe a mod can merge them?
