Secondary Markets Without Ties -- Grades
Anyone have any anecdotal evidence or gut feeling about the types of grades needed for students looking to enter non-NYC markets without ties? I'm going to be at Chi next year, and like the idea of the COL bargains in markets like Texas and Chicago; however, I have no ties to Texas and my ties to Chicago consist of attending UChi. I've read on this forum that very high grades can make up for lack of ties in insular secondary markets, but does anyone have an idea of what constitutes "high grades"? Top 10%? Top 5%? Any commentary would be greatly appreciated.

You can bolster ties by working in the secondary market your 1L summer. Top 10% at Chicago and you are pretty golden but I'm not sure when the break is.
