- The atmosphere here is not competitive. Simple as that. If you miss class it's easy to get notes. People share outlines on a giant hard drive. In my experience people have been consistently helpful and friendly. Also, no one talks about grades. Seriously, no one has ever asked me what I got in a class or shared their grades with me.

- I don't really know what is meant by a politicized atmosphere. Plenty of people here are interested in politics, but no one forces you to discuss politics and people are respectful and good natured when they do.

- If you're looking for a class to visit, I'd probably recommend Crim law, just because the conversation will be easy to follow and the cases tend to be interesting. If you jump into some of those courses during the last week of class you might be totally lost. Also, I'm in the listed Torts section and I do not recommend it. Half the students have stopped showing up.

- Almost nobody buys a meal plan through the school. A lot of people cook. I tend to buy sandwiches and other cheap food around the neighborhood a lot.

- I want to emphasize this last point in the hopes of saving you all from a summer full of apprehension: You will have free time in law school. There is a lot of work to do. In my experience much more than in undergrad. But for those of you worried that you'll have so much work that you won't have time to prepare your meals or work out a couple of times a week, stop worrying. You will have more than enough time to cook your meals, work out, go out on weekends and do whatever it is that you do for fun or helps you destress. Finals can be pretty miserable, but that only lasts a few weeks (and you can make it less painful by starting your outlining early).

Do a lot of people take classes at the business school? What are the rules on this?

Meh, a few people do. I know people that take accounting there. IIRC, you can take up to 10 credits outside the law school that count towards graduation. Even then, I believe it's credit/no-credit, but I'm not totally sure about that so I could be wrong.

I initially wanted to do the same, but as you see when you get here, you don't really have that much time to take what you want in law school. You only pick the classes you want to take for four semesters here. If you're interested in a corporate law career, there are a shitload of classes you need to take first--like tax, antitrust, bankruptcy, accounting for lawyers, secured transactions, corporations, evidence, etc. plus fun seminars like negotiations, advanced corporations: m&a, deal, deals litigations, financial statements & analysis, international sales/arbitration, investment law, european investment law, etc. I will say that we have a POWERHOUSE corporate faculty here. In terms of their experience and expertise, a few 3Ls told me that we have the most diverse collection of courses than any law school in the T14. We're in NYC for god's sakes, and our faculty isn't as fluffy and idea-centered as schools like Y, the other C, and S.

In terms of practical, business-related course, our faculty is top notch. One of the benefits of being a money-hungry corporate-centered law school in the middle of nyc

Thus, there's not really a need to take anything at the business school. Anything you can learn there, you can get here, but with a law-related focus.

Then again, there might be some specialty you want to learn, and understanding that 3L is a shitshow of alocohol and laziness, you can take classes then.

Liebman's property class ended last week, so...
Wu, Morrison, Persily, Jackson good
Rapyzinski bad
Others, don't know
P.S. Ginsberg if you want to be one degree from SCOTUS, but not if you want to stay awake

I sat in on Persily's class when I visited. He seemed like a great teacher. It's totally worth spending an hour on while you're there.

If I dont want to feel like im back in a college dorm, would Lionsgate be better?
