Who's taken Hilliker for Legal Ethics? Participation counting as 40% of the final grade and being partially determined by fellow students sounds like a bad combo.

It's dry, even for ethics, and an easy way to get a B+.

Transfer student here who didn't take Con law during 1L so now I have to take it at NU. I noticed our class had less than 40 people- which must mean this class is uncurved, correct?

I think the mandatory 1L classes are curved, regardless.

When it comes to Nzelibe, you're going to need it. I prefer to not need time after class to understand the material discussed during class.

I believe if you go onto the bookstore website (google NU Law Bookstore or something), it'll let you input which classes you have. From there you can see the required and recommended books and then compare prices from there to Amazon, etc.

How important is it to get the most current editions for: Remedies, Patent law, Con law, BA?

it's never important as long as you know which cases are being covered.

Did anyone else have trouble installing the free Microsoft Office provided by NU? Mine keeps telling me that I have a 64-bit Office program on my computer, even though I've uninstalled my older version of Microsoft Office from my Control Panel & I've used the "Fix It" button from this link. I have no idea what's wrong with it, and now I'm freaking out that I just uninstalled my Microsoft Office like 3 days before school starts. I'm really bad at this sort of thing, so any insight would be helpful. FWIW I have a Lenovo Yoga 13 and just upgraded to Windows 8.1 last night.

ETA: I just reopened Word to see if it still works...it does. Even though I uninstalled it from the Control Panel?? That doesn't seem to make sense to me.

If you have BA with Silver, she likes to use the casebook's practice problems, so you should probably have access to a copy of the current edition.

The Pfander supplement is very helpful for his class.
