A pretty good portion of Kellogg classes are offered downtown through the part time program. The part time building is right next to the law school, so it's pretty convenient. They are all taught at night or on the weekend though, so you have to be willing to sit in class during those times. I think law students take a back seat to Kellogg students in registration too, so certain classes may be difficult to get in to.

As far as recruiting goes, the timetables are really different (August vs. January/February) and the focus of the recruiters is also pretty different. I think McKinsey and BCG are the only companies that hire both law students and MBAs, but as Icculus said they don't come to OCI at NU Law. You can still apply to their summer internship programs though.

Laziness of a professor vs. incompetence of the admin. Hard to bet on either.

Incompetence of the administration, every time.

No the professor had his game on. He would have our exam grades the day after we took it (I already know my grade, I just want it on my transcript). It is the administration that has managed to mess things up.

This year, tuition was increased only 3%, so maybe we should cut them some slack.

Thanks for all the info re: the relationship between Kellogg and Northwestern Law. I appreciate it. It's nice to know that there are part-time classes available for particularly nerdy students.

What's the process like for an already admitted JD student who wants to pursue an MBA? Is it too late for me to tack on a dual degree after I've been accepted? Do you know any students who have done that? Worth it? Would Kellog lower their admission standards for an already enrolled JD student (good GMAT... not so good WE)?

Edit: so I've been spelling Kellogg wrong this whole time. How did I get into law school?

I don't know about admission standards, but I know several 1Ls who applied and transferred into the JD/MBA program a little before fall finals. They interviewed, that much I know. Their first year is the same as ours except they were more limited in their 1L electives for spring term. Next year they'll be up at Kellog in Evanston.

Bottom line is that you would need to be competitive as a regular MBA student applicant for Kellogg. I don't know what "not so good WE" means exactly, but the admissions standards aren't any lower for a 1L "transfer" than they are for regular 0L admit. Kellogg has a soft WE floor of 3 years and a pretty hard stop at 2 years of WE. The types of WE represented in the class vary a lot though, it's not like you absolutely have to have experience for a big name company or consultancy to get in.

Someone in my section tried to but didn't get accepted because of a lack of WE i think. nNot sure what his GMAT was.

Any JD/LLM students in international humanitarian law? Interested in the program but I think it's too late for a student with my numbers to apply. Know if it's possible to transfer into this program after 1L?

I have a friend who added it his 1L year. No idea what the process is.

No, I mean to transfer to Northwestern after 1L and do this joint degree.... I've already been accepted at other schools but I'm really hoping to transfer to a T14 if possible. I just found out about this program and it's perfect for my career goals >.< PM me please if you have any advice! It's quite program specific so I wouldnt want to waste thread space haha

as the program is a revenue source for NU, i doubt they'd have a problem with it.

I know at least one person has done this in the past; if your 1L grades are good enough to transfer to NU, you'll have no problem getting into that particular program. The real issue is having no idea what your 1L grades will be. Going to law school betting on a transfer is incredibly risky business.

Hey 3L's,

I'm wondering how long NU has been doing the ED full-ride for? And if you think they might continue it next cycle. Thanks guys!

(2L here)

Last cycle was the first cycle they did it. Not sure how long they will continue it.

Still waiting on my damn W2 so I can do my taxes and fill out FAFSA, but I was looking at the requirements for applying for aid. Am I correct in saying that NeedAccess isn't required for 2L-3L years?

2L here: 100% sure I didn't fill out a need access form in 2012 and no one has said anything about it.

Posted this in the applicants thread, but maybe a student can help me?

Have any other AJD applicants looked at the Need Access forms online? It looks like the only question we are required to answer is "Please describe any special circumstances". Is that correct??

I read that regular decision applicants had to write two essays - one assessing their need for aid, and one about merit or something?

I answered over there too. NU will email you about the aid application, which includes the 2 essays. It is separate from NeedAccess and FAFSA.

Sorry @Rink. Thanks for answering :) I was wigging out (apparently for no reason!). Probs cause I'm too excited to think/type.
