in re: that guy's question about LR board elections, the answer is:

LR elections are during 2L spring. 2L members can put in for as many board positions as they want, in priority order. Applicants fill paper applications and can take advantage of a peer recommendation process by which they can endorse fellow 2Ls for certain positions (or receive such endorsements). The sitting LR board, in full, conducts in-person interviews of each candidate (so ~20 board members sit in a room together and interview 1 applicant at a time -- intimidating!), and then has a super-long closed-door meeting in which they elect the new board. If someone does not get their first choice, the board considers them for every other position they have applied for. Some years, applicants for the board outnumber board positions by a lot; other years, by only one or two people.

Getting EIC is really hard. Several of the other positions are as well (e.g., EAE), but others definitely are not (e.g., Membership Editor).

Thanks dude, that makes a lot of sense.

Of course it's valuable. It's an entire week of hanging out with your new peers without having to read casebooks. Take me back, please.

I'll be moving south and east to go to a school called Northwestern.

Can everyone else hear State Street and not immediately start humming this in their heads?

Not great when Monty soundly thrashed him at El Alamein.

Maybe.

Lincoln offered Lee command of the Union army which he turned down. I don't think Churchill wanted Rommel in charge of anything except driving tanks into the ocean.

I have a practical question. I am thinking about purchasing a backpack for school and was wondering how large of one I needed. How many law books will I likely be carrying around + the laptop?

Any insights or other considerations would be appreciated.

It depends on how much booze you will be bringing with you to class each day.

Nah leave a bottle of alcohol in your library locker and your basement locker and you only need to replace it every couple weeks.

^ this.

Also, I thought my Northface backpack was too small, I recommend something bigger than their standard size.

Wise words from an experienced student.
