Seems like the administration was up front.

If people have heard they wouldn't be able to talk about it. See:
Cliff Zimmerman wrote:once you get an offer, you need to keep that information to yourself until all journal offers have been resolved and announced officially;
Last year there was about a three week difference between the day Cliff sent out the "offers are about to go out" and the "congratulations here is the list of new journal members" emails.

Forgot about that (and assumed we'd at least get an anonymous tip somewhere)...so when do the other Journals start calling? Tonight? Is there an order?

Im more curious about the two consecutive emails in which the same female refers to her boyfriend in the first one and then to her girlfriend in the second.

NU administration isn't making the calls. Rising 3L's busy with SA's are.
ALSO: Calls all went out. Sorry none of you got LR.
Where is your citation to this assertion?

Really? You want a "citation" for something that inherently can only be the subject of gossip, since the official word doesn't come out for weeks after calls are made? Sorry you didn't make it. Hopefully your GPA was not between 3.65 and 3.79, in which case you can sleep easy knowing it would have been more trouble than it was worth for you anyway.

Of course, I was joking. Could you explain the 3.65 to 3.79 comment, though?

People with good grades (3.8+) do well at OCI no matter what. People with meh grades are not saved by LR status. People with not-sure-if-good grades get the benefit of the doubt when you add LR.

I think what he means is that NULR isn't going to do much for 3.8+ students who will get V5/V10 in NY and DC and V5 in Chicago anyway and will contend for clerkships. It also won't do much for 3.6 and below students who aren't contending for the most prestige-obsessed firms. But it might tip the scales of a 3.72 student who might be borderline at Paul, Weiss NY or something like that.
That's my guess.
Regarding the journal business, I imagine that JCLC and JILB will go next over the next week or so with calls, and then it will proceed down the chain.

The one thing I will add to this is that if you want to clerk you are going to be helped by LR status (and board position or publications on LR) regardless of your GPA.

Before you ask, I am a little OCD about this.
I know no one is supposed to say whether or not they got a call etc.
However, for you 2 and 3L's, do you know if calls went out over more than one day last semester?
If yesterday was it, I am a little surprised. My GPA is pretty good and I thought my writing portion was pretty good.

Can't speak for anyone else but know at least 1 rising 3L with pretty immaculate grades and what I imagine was solid writing who didn't make it last year

I would also venture a guess--correct me if I'm wrong--that NULR has a wider GPA range than most law reviews because of (a) no grade-on and (b) the extremely short writing sample length that might make it harder to differentiate students.

Only about half the people who made Coif my year were on LR. Writing competition is a full 50% of the decision, and law review writing is a very specific kind of writing.

Obviously the issue with getting an answer is that you haven't asked the question enough. You should post it again.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
