(1) Summa? Gat damn. Not shocked though.
(2) Coif and magna nearly overlapped. That's an outlier thing right?
(3) A quick eyeball count was about 140 cum laude grads lol.
Uh, yeah. Usually Magna is around 10-15 students. My class is a bunch of gunners.
So that basically implies that Coif is like, just below 3.97? Like 3.95?

I count 162 total grads with some kind of Latin honors. There are 294 entries in the JD Facebook. But like, who cares? Is 2L+3L grade inflation bad for anyone?

The situation is unfortunate for the people who i assume exist who ended with a 3.9x and no coif. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again next year though. The 2013s always said we are gunnerier than they were.

I think there is a difference between the crazy gunning of 2014s and the silent gunning of 2013s. The grade distributions and number of curved / uncurved classes have been the same over the years so I imagine this year is a bit of an anomaly where the same group of people were getting consistently high grades. In year's past the grades are more spread out and I think this class was just a bit top heavy.

Ha yeah I don't know why I wrote it that way. Of course TLS loves it. I am just nervous they are gonna do something about it because some of the profs think we have it too easy.

Also, D-Rod's a dick, but even he has to see that making our grading scale harsher would only have negative effects on employment.

Firms don't typically re-calculate their GPA cutoffs every year right? If they started grading harsher wouldn't the immediate effect probably just be c/o 2016 underperforming at OCI when we don't meet their established cutoffs?

Or would they have to provide %tiles to firms, and effectively rank us for them (going against current OCI policies)?
ETA: I guess 2L and 3L grades wouldnt matter

Once every 4-5? years. Definitely not every year. Someone got it this year though.

Just curious... was it someone everyone always knew was a gunner, or someone totally unexpected?

Nah. The guy was just extremely intelligent—he has a PhD in engineering and worked for a big tech company before law school. After having 1 class with him, I was completely unsurprised he got it.

Just saying that the class felt very MBA-y...of course that may have simply been because I wasn't really learning anything.

It was a Thursday night class, of course I wasn't listening. I had also a drink with me every time.

Our Dean is an idiot who can't attach images to emails, and apparently thinks Scalia is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
