Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
Anyone know if the U-Pass I'll be getting is literally valid while school is in session (ie, NOT valid during orientation)?
If that's the case I'll probably grab me a 7-day pass in the meantime...

They were handing out free 7 day passes when you got your photo takenKremeCheez wrote:Anyone know if the U-Pass I'll be getting is literally valid while school is in session (ie, NOT valid during orientation)?

I've been using my U-Pass for the past several days, so as soon as you get them, they should be working.

Interesting. I actually like her, except that she doesn't seem to understand the pointlessness of CLR class (the writing assignments are whatever, but the actual class itself is the most pointless thing known to man). When every other prof was cancelling classes we were still meeting every week to do the same damn thing.bk187 wrote:Ironically fighting back by being more insufferable.franklyscarlet wrote:Doesn't surprise me. We got pretty flagrant in our not paying attention last year. Oops. Guess Hill is fighting back early this year.

Hill is a great person. The problem with CLR is the message and not the messenger. 100 cute articles on legal writing will not teach you legal writing.

Does anyone know though? Nobody has ever, in the history of Western Civilization, read one.IAFG wrote:Hill is a great person. The problem with CLR is the message and not the messenger. 100 cute articles on legal writing will not teach you legal writing.

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
Agreed on both counts. Hill gets a bad rap, but is actually a really great person when you get to know her. It's just that CLR sucks, no matter what. It also sucks as a CLR prof, especially one who takes things personally, because it's like the one class where almost everyone is willing to go and bitch about a grade, and usually not in a very open minded manner. I myself knew I slacked off in that class and figured I deserved what I got.Desert Fox wrote:Does anyone know though? Advice needed...I am first on the wait list for law and rhetoric. Should I ride it out or cancel and take back my 650 points for next semester which would give me 4496 points for next semester?

You don't need that many points for next sem. If you want it, wait it out. In my experience, first on the waitlist almost always gets in before add/drop endsIcculus wrote:Advice needed...I am first on the wait list for law and rhetoric. That was my thought. The only thing I desperately want next semester is to get into a clinic, specifically the civil lit one I got beat out of this semester and I figure 3800 should be enough to get it.Holly Golightly wrote:You don't need that many points for next sem. Someone remind me if there's a way to see up-to-date enrollment numbers?
Also, I've been unable to get this to work on Caesar, but is the "what-if" report tool actually usable? i.e. ability to plug in grades and figure out what I need for specific GPAs?

No but once class starts they'll start updating it daily until add/drop ends.Roll Fizzlebeef wrote:Thanks - but anything that shows if people have dropped after R2?zozin wrote:http://www.law.northwestern.edu/registr ... esults.pdfRoll Fizzlebeef wrote:Someone remind me if there's a way to see up-to-date enrollment numbers?

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
Does Speta's Telecom class really not have any required books?
The bookstore has a TBA for the class, and the course description on CAESAR says "Required Materials: None," but recommends we read at least one of several non-textbooks. (Related: does anyone recommend any of these books?)
Zittrain, The Future of the Internet -- and How to Stop It;
Wu, The Master Switch;
Lessig, Code;
Lessig, The Future of Ideas;
Littman, Digital Copyright;
Weiser & Neuchterlein, Digital Crossroads;
Christopher Yoo, The Dynamic Internet.

When do we get finals' schedules? Thanksgiving is annoyingly close to the review period etc and am being pressured by the fam to figure out when/where/why I'll be but don't want to make any decisions before knowing when I have tests..

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
You a 1L? If so, you'll have finals on Monday==>Thursday==>Monday==>Thursday for the 2 weeks of finals. So looks like that'll be December 9th, 12th, 16th, and 19th. Class ends December 4th. So your first final will be 11 days after Thanksgiving.onionz wrote:When do we get finals' schedules? No problem. For future reference, the academic calendar: http://www.law.northwestern.edu/academi ... _calendar/onionz wrote:Thanks a ton.Flips88 wrote:You a 1L? Has anyone successfully signed up for the dental HMO plan and found the 6-digit office code for a primary care dentist?
