Look at your unofficial transcript on caesar. Also McAllister sent an email to the plain old cum laude recipients.
She sent an email to us less than honorable folks to:
"congrats, you did barely enough to graduate "

Who are some recommended professors for IP courses?
Some MUST take professors before graduating (not just IP specific)?

Anybody's loans show up in their bank account yet?
Was really hoping to wake up to that today.

Maybe if we're lucky we'll get it after OCI.

That's pretty goddamn ridiculous.
You might have a grade inflation problem when your honors cutoff meant to cover 3% of the class balloons to about 10% of the class two graduating classes in a row.

it's going to be fun when kids with a 3.95 have to explain in an interview why they didn't get coif

I don't think anyone will ask. Not all schools do it, and it's hard to keep track of which do and don't.

I assume this is why last year's list is no longer accessible and they b haven't published a list this year. For as much as the admin can suck, quietly engineering substantial grade inflation wqs probably pretty helpful for a number of students.

I think it's helpful to a certain extent--taking a 3.3 student and making that person a 3.5 student. But does it really help a 3.8 student look like a 4.0 student? In a world without Coif maybe, but the grade-selective stuff the 3.8 student is applying for are savvy enough to catch on. This includes very selective firms and clerkships. I don't think a 7th Cir. judge seeking 25 apps from 3.9 NU students is really going to be that impressed.

maybe not, but a random judge or some firm outside the midwest that doesn't see many NU kids sure might be

True. But most students would rather be competitive for 7th Cir. than say, 11th Cir. I'm just not sure the trade-off is worth it. Flaum has said he knows about the grade inflation, meaning only 4.0+ students have a shot. That's ridiculous.

Weren't those be the same students who have a shot without grade inflation anyway? Unless the Judges or firms who know about the grade inflation actually hold it against us (which they might, I have no idea, though it's not the student's fault) then I don't see how it could hurt.

Also the point of grade inflation is not too help people in the top 20 percent of the curve, anyway.
It's also not ridiculous that only 4.0 students have a shot at flaum. Those people would be the only ones who have a shot at him if they were above 3.9 pre inflation.

But it's not really hurting the people at the 7th cir. because if 3.9 was top 5%, they wouldn't have a 3.9, they'd have a 3.8.
