I seriously cannot imagine being a grader for journal comp. I apologize to the poor souls who had to read my POS entry.Icculus wrote:So much grading....Flips88 wrote:Well prepare to wait another month for journal shit lolrinkrat19 wrote:I don't want grades to come out ever, because I have little hope of them being much of an improvement over fall.
I'm actually more "eager" (for lack of a better word) to hear about journals. wheeeee.

I had to put out of my mind while doing it that the prize, were I successful, would be two years of the same thing over and over.Georgia Avenue wrote:1Ls are so cute.Holly Golightly wrote:lol @ being excited for journal.

Journal work is the least rewarding and highly time consuming circle jerk work you'll do in law school. So get excited kiddos

I used the ice cream eating contest analogy to explain the journal competition to my mom. She was horrified.

There was no way that was going to happen. Everytime I was told by people in the class what the prof's argument was (group exam = fewer students) I politely nodded and then walked away. That would have caused a shit storm.homestyle28 wrote: so the whole Sec Reg "it's really just a paper" thing didn't pan out I guess

It had to be based on #s, but Prof swore he wouldn't do it, final was a group exam, told our group we did A+ work.Desert Fox wrote:Wasn't that curved?
edit: did NOT get an A+ (or an A of any variety for that matter)

If they let him do that then tenured profs who hate the curve would have started doing the same thing.homestyle28 wrote:It had to be based on #s, but Prof swore he wouldn't do it, final was a group exam, told our group we did A+ work.Desert Fox wrote:Wasn't that curved?

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
true, and I really didn't think he'd get away with it, but either he or the administration should have told us what was coming. I don't really care in any major way (didn't change my overall gpa much), but would kind of like an explanation...cest la vie I supposeIcculus wrote:If they let him do that then tenured profs who hate the curve would have started doing the same thing.homestyle28 wrote:It had to be based on #s, but Prof swore he wouldn't do it, final was a group exam, told our group we did A+ work.Desert Fox wrote:Wasn't that curved?

It's confirmed: I kind of suck at law school. Raised my miserable GPA .035. Which I guess is better than it going down... :-/

You really can't bitch about not getting an A or A- in the a curved class.homestyle28 wrote:It had to be based on #s, but Prof swore he wouldn't do it, final was a group exam, told our group we did A+ work.Desert Fox wrote:Wasn't that curved?

It's the prof's fault for having such a stupid final in a curved class, but the prof can't uncurve a curved class. Rule are rules.

Yeah, I know professors that have tried, and administration just sends back the grades with a message that they need to follow the mandatory curve.Desert Fox wrote:You really can't bitch about not getting an A or A- in the a curved class.homestyle28 wrote:It had to be based on #s, but Prof swore he wouldn't do it, final was a group exam, told our group we did A+ work.Desert Fox wrote:Wasn't that curved?
