I saw six, so I guess it's increasing.

I don't remember the number, but spring OCI is very small.

guess how many practice exams we got from him?

who are we/him?

McG will give you one, without answers, later in the semester. It's a pretty typical antitrust exam, just use example ones in supplements.

Also, I hope it keeps snowing forever.

I'm a 3L and I haven't done any community service hours. Should I try to blitz it to get the community service honors or whatever? Does it matter? I don't want to look like the only selfish, greedy, corporate asshole at graduation.

0L here, ED - I have a friend who is a recent graduate and told me that I will be eating a free lunch almost every day because of seminars where lunch is offered. How much truth is there to this?
1. None, your friend is full of shit;
2. Even if your friend is the type of guy who would go to any seminar to get a free lunch, there's no way he was doing it more than twice a week;
3. There are interesting seminars about twice a week that, as a bonus, serve lunch, but I don't see how your friend got lunch for free daily;
4. Sounds like your friend is the type of guy who would go to any seminar to get a free lunch, in which case it could be true, but it's unlikely you'll go more than once or twice a week; or
5. There are interesting seminars almost every day that, as a bonus, include a free lunch!

How realistic is it to live near the school with a $1000 a housing month budget (all utilities included)? With or without roommates is fine

If near=walking distance: With roommates, possibly. Without, nope. Cheapest rent near the school is in the $1200-1300 range and that's not including utilities. You can get a place for a $1000 budget within a couple of stops on the red line, or a reasonably short bus ride, but you will have to go a bit north and/or west of Streeterville.

Depends on what "near" means. If you mean within a 5 min walking distance, nope. If you mean within 15-20 min walking distance, maaaayyybe (more likely w a roommate). If you mean within 15-20 min bus ride, definitely (with a roommate...not sure about on your own).

If you really, really look, you can find cheap places within walking distance of the school. But you'll need to jump on them fast. It's easier if you look north or west, though.

Right after lawyer as a problem solver and right before bar review.

Firms:
Banner & Witcoff (Chicago) *Patent
DLA Piper (Chicago)
Eimer Stahl (Chicago)
Grippo & Elden (Chicago)
Kegler Brown & Hill (Columbus)

ETA: @ LRGhost: if you change the filter to 'Spring 2014 OCI - Corporate Employers' you'll see the other 6.

Really liked Schazenbach. He's good folk. The class was pretty straightforward and interesting, though the reading load is intermittently heavy.

If I recall correctly, they always schedule grades to come out right after the add/drop deadline (I assume so students can't select classes based on previous grades). If that's true, then they'll come out after the revised add/drop deadline on Jan. 21/22.

Now would be a good time for 1Ls to start contemplating their 2L Fall job hunt strategy.

What do you recommend? Start compiling a spreadsheet for mailing over the summer?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
