Bump to say that NYU continues to attract top profs. Bob Bauer (White House Counsel) will be teaching as an adjunct, and Adam Cox from Chicago is joining the faculty.

I'm looking at family housing in the MacDougal Street apartments - one of the university's low-rise buildings. Unfortunately, unlike Mercer/D'Ag there's only one picture online and no way to see the apartment before move-in day.

Do any current student have experience with MacDougal Street? Would you recommend it? Even better - any chance you might have some photos?

Thanks!

Would love to know this as well!

Still would love to know.

Or how does Cole compare to Palladium otherwise?

The track at Coles is actually an outdoor track on the roof.

Second clerkship, then a firm. Yes, litigation.

Bar trip starts tomorrow. I anticipate I'll be feeling 10/10 for the next few weeks.

Partner at my firm, if I can handle the hours. Perhaps teaching as an adjunct. Maybe a law prof? Great family, lots of vacations / traveling, nice house, etc. Of course, some of these things are mutually exclusive.

Did you have multiple firm offers? Why did you choose the one you did?

Get good grades and have a great personality? Seriously though, I got my 1L summer job through NYU's PILC Fair, which is an amazing program. Most of my friends did, too. I didn't even look for firm jobs, so I can't be of much help there.

Yeah, broad question was broad. That was my bad. I guess I was looking for advice such as the PILC Fair, which I've heard is great.

I had 10 or so offers, some biglaw, some boutiques. I developed a close relationship with a partner at one of the firms, and I chose that firm largely because of that relationship. It's worked out wonderfully.

Did you make and type out your own outlines or use someone else's?

Sorry to invoke images long since past but a few admissions questions if you might care to entertain:

What were your strengths in the admissions process? How many schools did you apply to? What was the rationality of your final decision making?

You mention that you're paying sticker; were there any weaknesses in your application? Was NYU a reach in any sense?

To whatever degree you might like to answer, what would a portrait of you pre-NYU law look like? What was your work like previous to enrollment, academic and non?

I obviously never post so I don't know the etiquette but thus far you've been quite edifying and prompted further questioning! Thanks and best of luck.

Gotcha. Here's my advice. Don't worry about things you can't change (grades, work experience, etc.), and play to your strengths. If your resume screams PI, you'll have an easy time at the PILC Fair. If not, you need to convice the interviewer why you are interested in his/her organization/cause/firm. All the screening interviews are short, so you have very little time to make an impression. Additionally, many interviewers will be tired, or bored, or distracted, and it's your job to make yourself memorable (in a good way). Find the things that make you stand out from all the other qualified applicants and weave these experiences (or traits, or accomplishments) into your narrative during the interview.

Strengths: GPA. I applied to about 10 schools. I didn't apply to HYS or Chicago because I wanted to live in or around NYC. I chose NYU over Penn and Columbia because I felt more comfortable there after visiting, talking to other students and professors, etc.

You mention that you're paying sticker; were there any weaknesses in your application? Was NYU a reach in any sense?

My LSAT was low for NYU.

A few years of interesting non-legal work experience. About 10 pounds lighter.
