It varies year to year. Y'all may get more informative answers if you give a rough indication where you are on the WL.

You will almost certainly get in.

For Klarman, the year I was on the waitlist it dipped into the 20's.

I suspect that a Spring Fed Courts waitlist will move a lot as people realize that they don't want to take Fed Courts, especially when they hear their friends complain about it in the fall. My guess would be that if you're anywhere on the Fallon waitlist, you'll get in. (And yeah, #10 is almost sure to get in.)

Can anyone speak to the chances of getting a Los Angeles area SA without any real ties?

That's good to hear, thanks :) . I think I have solid reasons as to why I would want to work there, but I've heard varying things about how tie sensitive LA is in general.

less than SF. some firms will recruit largely based on grades and demonstrated interest for the work, even if you aren't born & raised. Irell, Munger, and Gibson come to mind. Weaker your other qualifications are, more important it might be to have a legit local connection.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Honestly, as much as I'd like to work in the area, my attention there will probably depend on what my grades look like.

Anyways, I don't really have to worry about that too much yet; just trying to gauge the situation a little bit.

hey current students! the class of 2018 thread mentions that we should consider fine tuning diversity statements before the school year starts in preparation for the 1L summer job search. can anyone explain what the DS entails? is it pretty much the same as what people may have submitted in their law school apps? thanks in advance!

Hey Guys - I was wondering if anyone had Huang for Torts last spring. He's a young prof and I haven't been able to find any outlines for him. If you'd PM me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Does anyone have anything to say about David Rosenberg or any of the courses he's teaching next year? I'm interested in each of them but I've heard conflicting things about him as well as his courses.

Can't answer the question directly, but as of a few hours ago we finally have professor evaluations back on the course catalog.

Is there data somewhere that shows firms' grade cut-offs?

Anyway to find out class capacities before registration period is over? I know going to add/drop will give you the capacity, but before registration period is over there is no add/drop for those classes...

Sadly no. The registrar is super secretive about this kind of thing. If you asked them, my hunch is that their excuse is that they haven't yet determined the capacity. (It can fluctuate depending on which classroom it gets assigned to and how many slots are reserved for transfers, LLMs, and cross-registrants.)

On HLS Dope we tracked last year's capacity listings from the Add/Drop period. You can see them by clicking on any course that has preferencing data on the catalog page. (We only have data on ~20% of course offerings, but it's something.)
