nothingtosee, if you're talking about whether judges care for clerkship purposes, then the answer is probably yes as much of a clerk's job involves legal writing/research. There are more knowledgeable people reading this thread who could probably discuss in greater detail the implications, but as a starting point I would recommend checking out the OCS blog and clerkships page. They have a good discussion of grades/what judges tend to look for in evaluating candidates. The clerkships section of this site is also a useful resource. If you're talking just about a summer internship, then probably not (or at least, you shouldn't have any problems finding a judicial internship as 1L at HLS).

I figured you'd be more worried about the snow affecting grade release.

Fwiw, I have heard the registrar is saying it is "extremely unlikely" that grades will be delayed by the weather, and that they will almost certainly be released by tomorrow. That obviously affords them some wiggle room, but it seems like things are still probably on track. Perhaps they'll try and get them out by COB today. No one (except them) really knows though.

Well, an update: "We are expecting to release tomorrow but you should receive a communication if anything changes."

Less definitive than what they were saying earlier. I'm thinking it might be Wednesday now.

Where are you getting these updates from?

It was annoying today for both parties to do interviews without having any grades.

jesus that sounds dumb, even by HLS standards. way to go administration.

what are the firms doing, making you email them transcripts once grades are released?

It is strange to me how long these grades have taken. Among any T20 schools on the semester system, seems like it's taken them the longest

Afternoon. Around 2 or 3 pm, I think. But the Registrar sends an email when they're up, and even obsessive reloading tends not to beat the Registrar's announcement, as far as I know.

In my experience, obsessive reloading beat the registrar by about 30 minutes for 1L grades. However, you are almost certainly better off just waiting. If you can't find a way to fill the extra time you save by not sitting at your computer, you're not doing enough extracurrics/drinking.

Maybe the registrar is one of the critical personnel. I don't get why releasing our grades should take so long. I am not sure but it probably just involves clicking an icon or pressing a button of some kind.
a lever would be cool

I really hope it's a lever. Maybe a really big one that requires the whole registrar team to pull it.
Maybe that's why it's been delayed? It's possible they were short-staffed for the lever-pulling so they've been using this time to hire someone appropriate?

Why does HLS treat each grades-release like a crappy Dan Brown novel? No need for suspense. I wish they would just tell us the day and time and then auto-release 'em.

That said, I think they will come out today. I'm not even sure that anyone needs to be in the office; it might be an automated system.
