3 H's for the year is median, I think... but considering all the permutations, it doesn't seem fruitful to gauge after 1 semester considering people can go 0/3, 3/0, 1/2, 2/1 etc...

I'm actually surprised Median is 3 H's considering you can basically guarantee yourself median by gunning for 3 classes and punting 7 classes but maybe it's harder to do in practice since you could get pwned in the classes you don't punt...

Yes, the problem is that law school grades are too random to do this. And if you could, why would you want to? Why not gun for 4 classes, just be a bit above median? Or 5, because... and so it goes.

By the way, I hope for all the best for TLSers who got their grades today.

I've gotten my best grades in classes I generally failed to show up and do the reading for. You can't really guarantee yourself anything.
This x1000. DS in class I never went to and studied for from a 50 page treatise and P in class I always went to and outlined for.
BTW, should I send out clerkship apps now or wait for Jterm grade since I think it will be good? Think those will be released before feb 15?

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

That seems low to me.

I've heard this several places. I'm not really sure if it's true. Although I certainly hope it is!

Yeah 3H is def right around the median. The numbers are always fuzzy in that area but the OCS folks actually say 2-3H is median.

While 2 might be a stretch, when it comes down to interviewing you can basically treat those grades as median for NY. And this was two years ago, hiring has likely gone up compared to our year.

In my OCS meeting, my advisor said 4 Hs was probably median, 3 if you wanted to fudge it a bit.

I'm assuming this median talk is all for 1L. Does anyone know if it's different for 2L? More/less? Most people seem to take a lighter load for 2L. Not sure if that affects the #s.

So 3-4 Hs is around median then? Interesting. For some reason I thought it was around 4-5.

Agreed. I think the less fucks you give, the better you do. Maybe it's just coincidence but that's my theory.

it's closer to 2 than to 4, I believe, so 3 is fairly accurate. someone did the math one time. according to the statistician, if the distribution was perfect (?), which it isn't, median would be someone with straight P's. then again, i'm no statistician.

If based completely on a randomized distribution then median should be around 3.7 H, so either 3 or 4 H would be right at median. However as it is not completely randomized (aka some people who get Hs are more likely to get several together) this pushes the median down a lot closer to centering right at 3Hs.

Bit hard to say...but after the full 1L yr it should be 3-4 out of the 10 classes. So I'd say...2? lol
