Last year, I got my Negotiation grade at the same time as my other 1L grades.

When is the best time to find apartments with an August start date near campus (like Chauncy/Langdon)?

I'm a rising 2L (hoping to have a place for EIP), but got shitty HUH and HLS housing windows and had other housing plans with friends fall through. Current plan is to get a broker or at least call someone like Chestnut hill and try to find a 2 bedroom (can't afford a studio/1bed) and get a random 1L to join me.

So I guess I'm trying to figure out if I need to panic and call every broker in the city, or if I can chill out and casually search as things turn up over the next month. Also kind of just assuming some 1L will need a place... Is it usually easy to find 1Ls to take rooms?

Is there a shot at the 2L Sears with a smidge above a 4.5?

The final lists for this year aren't in yet. (They may be partially in Symplicity though.)

This is a guess, but probably not. In past years, the 1L Sears required 60–80%+ DS's based on earlier posts in this thread. One would think the percentage would increase or remain static, not decrease in 2L.

I was able to remove the curtain from my closet when I was in gropius. It was hung like a shower curtain on little hooks. Not sure if all rooms are the same.

Which banks have ATMs near the law school? I'm looking to apply for a new debit/credit card and want to know which bank I should use. Thank you!

I use Bank of America, which has an ATM inside the law school (WCC). Not sure what other ones are nearby.

IIRC there are also TD Bank and Santander (and BoA) in Harvard Sq.

You could opt for an online bank checking account that lets you use any atm and reimburses fees. That's what I do. Not sure what options are out there these days, but I use Charles Schwab which I'm quite happy with.

There's also a Harvard Credit Union ATM in the Science Center, which is probably the next-closest.

Eh, you may need to get moving. I just got done with an Aug 1 search, and it's rough. July? Fine. Sept? Fine. Aug? Slim pickings.

I found my apartment in a day of on the ground searching, but that was preceded by combing through everything on Padmapper, Zillow, and RentHop. I was searching in Riverside, Allston and West Cambridge, though (roommate is at HBS), so your experience may differ.

If you're interested in reaching out to the 1L Facebook group for roommates, shoot me a PM of the text you'd like me to post and and I can do that for you. Good luck!

CSM says that I am supposed to "report a clerkship to OCS" if I accept one. How do I do that? Just send them an email?

I looked around CSM for a bit, but the interface is baffling.

There's actually a Chase ATM in the baggage claim area at the Boston Logan airport.

But– it just dispenses. It's not one of the fancy ones that accepts cash/checks. Just btw.

I stayed with my Texas bank and it really hasn't been a problem. I've used an atm like maybe once or twice when I had to get a more than $20 in cash. Otherwise, I just do cashback at the store or use Venmo. As long as your bank can (1) provide you checks through the mail, and (2) accept mobile deposits, then you are probably fine. Counterpoint is that opening a bank account at Santander or somewhere in MA is really easy.

See the original post in this topic for 1L grade release information. It's normal for 1L grades not to be out yet. Typically, they would come out next week, but this year has not been typical for spring grade releases.

Looks like 1L grades were just posted in Helios. No email yet.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
