Re: UChi Students & Alumni Taking Questions
I think the success rate for people my year (c/o 2015) targeting California (both with and without ties) was damn near, if not at 100%. We get all of the major firms to our OCI and in a typical year you are only competing with like 15 of your classmates instead of 100 for Chi and 40 for NY. It's a very safe play with a Ruby.

PM me and I will send you the spreadsheet that tells you who worked at what firm.lebongenre wrote:2014 wrote:I think the success rate for people my year (c/o 2015) targeting California (both with and without ties) was damn near, if not at 100%. Awesome, thanks for the feedback! I was hoping that competing against fewer students would be a plus

Ruby is the best outcome in the law school game outside of the GI bill, congrats.lebongenre wrote:Getting ready to finally pull the trigger on the Ruby Any CA-bound 2Ls/3Ls out there willing to share their stats and where they'll be working after graduation (firm or otherwise) via PM? Needing to reassure myself that I won't necessarily end up in NYC or a non-CA market if I don't make top grades

Would it be feasible to commute 1.5 hours/day (one way) from Wauconda to U Chicago for a year? Thinking about living at home to mitigate debt.

Re: UChi Students & Alumni Taking Questions
Feasible, maybe (though 1.5 hours seems optimistic with traffic being what it is) but it's not a good idea. Definition of penny wise/pound foolish. If anything, live in HP during 1L and if you still want to live at home do so 2L or 3L when grades matter less and you have more control over your schedule. But i can almost guarantee that you won't want to do that at that point.acr wrote:Would it be feasible to commute 1.5 hours/day (one way) from Wauconda to U Chicago for a year? Re: UChi Students & Alumni Taking Questions
Why not just do graduate housing in Hyde Park for $600-$700 a month (this is possible)? Can either get a studio or split graduate housing with another student in a 2 bedroom (would be super cheap).acr wrote:Would it be feasible to commute 1.5 hours/day (one way) from Wauconda to U Chicago for a year? Brilliant legal historian and incredibly nice person. I didn't *love* Con Law with her, but that's mostly because I'm not that into history. She's not going to go all BLL on you.radio1nowhere wrote:General thoughts on Prof. Alison LaCroix?

Do 2nd quarter grades have the same preliminary email as the first quarter grades or will they just appear?

what is the cutoff for law review? I want to make sure that I'm well under it so I can stop trying hard in my classes.

Re: UChi Students & Alumni Taking Questions
I was actually just wondering this. 20 or so people grade on every year, so you'd have to be top 10% of the class. Searching "cutoff" in this thread shows you some of the old speculation. The basic conclusion is that there's no way to know, but from what I can tell the best guess people have is around 180 averagelandshoes wrote:what is the cutoff for law review? She left in March. A few of my classmates claim that she was forced out but I haven't heard any actual evidence of that.

I hadn't heard that she was forced out, but I'm not at all plugged in, do no surprise. I guess she's working now as a tour guide in Cuba?landshoes wrote:She left in March. A few of my classmates claim that she was forced out but I haven't heard any actual evidence of that.

I don't think they have any insider info. It's just typical 1L boredom and speculation.elterrible78 wrote:I hadn't heard that she was forced out, but I'm not at all plugged in, do no surprise. Re: UChi Students & Alumni Taking Questions
They expanded Law Review, so it's more than 20 grade-on, and is around top ~12-13% of the class. Varies based on year, but 180 is generally safe.daedalus2309 wrote:I was actually just wondering this. 20 or so people grade on every year, so you'd have to be top 10% of the class. You shouldn't worry about this stuff. No reason not to be a try-hard 1L year. After that though...

Re: UChi Students & Alumni Taking Questions
Hey all! Quick questions about Regents: Do the "renovated" units actually look like the photos in the listing below, or are they significantly more run down?
Eta: Thanks, all! I'll be sure to document everything. MAC already leaves much to be desired...
