After some thought I am debating whether Mac Air is worth it.

Would this be sufficient for school?

There are power plugs every classroom right? Or is the 10 hour battery on Mac Air some what necessary?

Yea my laptop has like 30m of battery charge, it was no big deal. So many plugs. There are some spots in the library and green lounge that don't have easy access but you can avoid them.

Are 3 piece suits frowned upon for professional events/interviews in law school? I'm wondering if I should buy a more standard style suit.

Well if you are going to sport a 3 piece, I think you should do it right. Go ahead and splurge on the cane and monocle

Interviews are not the time to make fashion statements.

You're forgetting the top hat and pocket watch.

...but anyway, unless the 3rd piece is something other than a vest, can't you just not wear the vest and have it be a 2-piece suit?

Haha. I apologize, I should have been more clear. The reason why I felt like taking the vest off wasn't an option was because the suit is a brighter color and doesn't look as formal without the vest and matching tie. I just bought a new suit with a vest that I can just take off and it looks fine, so all is well.

I realize that probably looked like an effing stupid question.

A brightly colored suit should be out for interviews anyway. People have gotten jobs in spite of their style but if you know it's a bad call ahead of time you shouldn't risk it.

Yeah. Again, it was a really stupid question. I wanted to save money, but I knew it wasn't going to fly. I just needed to man up.

I will say the top hat, pocket watch, cane, and monocle outfit was tempting though.

Anyone know which office I would go to in order to get my school ID early? I am arriving 2 weeks before orientation (living in the Regents area) and don't want to pay for the shuttle for 2 weeks.

ID office is to the left when you enter the Regenstein library, it's on 57th between Ellis and University

I am currently comparing cell phone plans, and I see Virgin mobile being the cheapest by far? Is there a significant downside to this? It would cost me 27 dollars monthly at Virgin mobile, double the price with all the other carriers.

I see you've confused our thread with a mall kiosk.

I had Virgin Mobile for a few years living in Hyde Park. It was fine. To be honest, I've had Verizon, Virgin, and now T-Mobile in Chicago and have not noticed a difference in reception between the three.

Mal I think it's legit to ask about phone service in a school thread, there can be big differences

I've had both AT&T and T-Mobile. AT&T doesn't really have reception in Regents, and T-Mobile loses reception if I walk too close to Regents or look at the building for too long.

Huh. I have T-Mobile and live a half block from Regents. No reception problems. Maybe it's something with the towers.

This really is kappycaft1' luck but I have perfect AT&T reception in regents. Not arguing just throwing out another data point.

Your old apartment in Regents had really awful AT&T reception though.
