I skipped a lot of orientation stuff, including just kinda walking out halfway through the Professionalism And Bullshit day. But don't RSVP to something and then not go (even if you get sick). They will call you and yell at you and make it sound like there are real consequences (there aren't).

Orientation sucked balls. But I actually liked professionalism day. We got good lunch and saw some awesome firm offices and in house offices if you're into that.

UChicago2017, enjoy the time you have free. Even the people who prepped extensively start at the same place as those of us who didn't prep at all. If you feel bored and like you need a task, maybe you should find a hobby that you will be able to continue during law school.

Literally the only thing I could think of that isn't a complete waste of time is learn how to type quickly if you can't. But seriously, calm down. If you try teaching yourself something, you'll inevitably be taught a different perspective by a professor and it'll just fuck you up later. Learn a fun hobby for the "fun fact" orientation bullshit?

As for UChicago2017:

1) I don't believe for a second that this is the most gunnerish moment of your life, either past or near-future.

2) Trying to do 0L prep is like trying to learn a language without hearing anyone speak it, but even more useless. You're not going to get very far reading words in a book without a professor to tell you why you're reading it wrong. I doubt anyone who's been in law school, especially this law school, will tell you anything other than: relax. There'll be time enough to gun this fall.

Do you all remember around when class schedules came out last year? Other schools are starting to get them, but I assume it'll be later for us since it's still two months until classes start.

You're going to want to be at least around 90 WPM. Grades are directly related to the quantity and not quality of what you write, and it is common for people who can type 120+ WPM to get 186s. I'd invest in a private typing tutor if I were you.

Being a big bad rising 2L doesn't give you an excuse to shitty up this thread when folks ask legit questions.
