At the law school itself? A bad idea, regardless.
In the city? No idea.

The city. I get sick of people too quickly to date someone I would have to see almost everyday.

I mean, it's the third biggest city in the country. And I get where you're coming from, but for me, I'd truncate that sentence to say "I get sick of people too quickly to date someone."

Says the married dude.

But yeah a lot of the '16 TLSers came in in committed relationships. Not sure any of us will be able to help. But srsly don't worry. People get laid in Chicago.

Lol I see. It seems like all of y'all are in serious relationships. But I'm concerned about dating in LS, not getting laid.

I'm also wondering how people balance new relationships and their coursework. Mal! Where you at? Lol

I don't understand what you're asking. How could it be hard to date in one of the biggest cities in the country. Are you saying you want to date me.

Idk. I've never lived in one of the biggest cities in a country. I've lived in a suburb of a semi-large city and a small mid-western city that's still very segregated, so my experiences are limited.

I'm guessing based on everyones responses, it won't be hard, so thanks for the responses.

EDIT: I'm don't do casual relationships which is why I was asking about balancing relationships and coursework.

I think UChi is too small for that kind of thing.

So you'd consider it if it were bigger?

Maybe. I like to have a winter time companion, but I would hate to have to always see that person after things didn't work out. My UG was huge so that was never an issue, but with everyone in one building at UChi, I'm sure that it's inevitable.

Have you considered Grindr?

Never heard of it. Is it like Tinder?

Posnr is pretty much the thing to turn to if you're at UChicago.

Haha you got me. The missing e in Posner threw me off.

In all seriousness though, you'll be fine. There are plenty of opportunities to meet people downtown and outside of the law school community. There are a few 1Ls who have hooked up with each other, but I am not sure how that has played out. I can definitely imagine it being super awkward if things go south but you're stuck next to them on the seating chart for the rest of the quarter, or in their section for the rest of the year.

I personally wouldn't worry about getting into a relationship until 2L when you have more time, though. At that point, you might even be able to date someone at the law school because you won't be stuck in the same section anymore, and you can theoretically never see them if you want to by taking different classes. ~200 people is actually a lot bigger than you'd imagine. There are still occasionally people I see in the C/O 2016 that I didn't know went here.

The sad part is I really thought Posnr was another app until you mentioned The Law School and I realized you guys were talking about Posner.

But thanks for the response. I met some 1Ls who were dating at ASW, but there are only a few. Several students told me about some horrible hookup stories that discouraged me from considering anyone at my LS.

On a completely unrelated note, being in Chicago these past few days has really made me appreciate the fact that UChi is located in Hyde Park. If it was located anywhere near where Northwestern Law is located, I would be broke and my productivity would go straight out the window.

1Ls aren't going to have much of an idea since they spend so much time in HP and/or studying. Chicago is an awesome dating city. It's big, has a ton of young professionals, and a really great nightlife. Meeting non-law people is good for the soul.

A solid amount of hooking up happens at the law school. Unless you go out of your way to be terrible about it, nobody will care or bother you.

I think a lot of 1Ls this year are dating 2Ls/3Ls so there's always that.
