Re: UChi rising 2Ls and 3Ls (!!!) taking Questions
I bet indirectly due to overcrowding -- one of the comments talks about the CTA asking for a higher subsidy because of their "crowd reduction" plans. That seems to make sense, as the crowds on the 171 during the winter time are actually ridiculous.Dany wrote:Cost, I think.cranberry wrote:they're getting rid of the 172/171? why? overcrowding?

Kind of really stupid, since it's on Westlaw anyway.Mad Hatter wrote:Is this for real?

I'm going to assume it's not true so I don't have to hit myself in the head with a casebook.redbullvodka wrote:Kind of really stupid, since it's on Westlaw anyway.Mad Hatter wrote:Is this for real?

I seriously doubt it. People hiding books or stealing pages is one of those vintage law school rumors that I don't think actually happens in real life.Mad Hatter wrote:Is this for real?

Re: UChi rising 2Ls and 3Ls (!!!) taking Questions
One of my relatives legitimately complained that this happened to him in 1973. It just seems silly now, though, since everything at all relevant is on Westlaw.Bildungsroman wrote:I seriously doubt it. If it did happen, I don't think you need to be very concerned w that particular classmate's memo performance

Hopefully that's off as that be taking a bit of hit compared with the last couple years.redbullvodka wrote:heard an anecdote today from a 2L that ~60% of c/o 2014 got biglaw summer positions so far. accurate?

Re: UChi rising 2Ls and 3Ls (!!!) taking Questions
I don't think anyone is doing anything but guessing up to this point unless OCS has accidentally mentioned it to someone. There's really no way to know for sure unless you hear it from OCS or wait until the Who Worked Where list comes out in June.TemporarySaint wrote:Hopefully that's off as that be taking a bit of hit compared with the last couple years.redbullvodka wrote:heard an anecdote today from a 2L that ~60% of c/o 2014 got biglaw summer positions so far. accurate?
60% seems a bit low based on my own anecdotal experience; it seems closer to the 70 - 80% range to me, but again, that's based off the completely unrepresentative sample of people that I've talked to about it.

If it makes you feel better, there's no way anyone actually knows that number unless they're BFFs with OCS who has managed to hunt down every 2L (which they haven't).Crowing wrote:hope it's better than this because that doesn't sound too goodredbullvodka wrote:heard an anecdote today from a 2L that ~60% of c/o 2014 got biglaw summer positions so far. accurate?

No one knows these numbers. Pretty sure that number is a random guess. FWIW I'd be very surprised if the current 2Ls didn't do better than our year.Crowing wrote:hope it's better than this because that doesn't sound too goodredbullvodka wrote:heard an anecdote today from a 2L that ~60% of c/o 2014 got biglaw summer positions so far. accurate?

Whoever @dat1L is, please stop or at least tone it down a bit. You're ruining one of the few bright spots in my life.

Has anyone here had Adam Cox for anything and would be willing to send me an old exam of his? He just came to NYU from UChi, so we have nothing on him

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
I had him for CivPro 1L year and really liked him. He taught a few different subjects, so not sure what you are looking for. Wasn't he at NYU all last year?JamMasterJ wrote:Has anyone here had Adam Cox for anything and would be willing to send me an old exam of his? He just came to NYU from UChi, so we have nothing on him

You all have way more than we did. Only a couple have the same professor.Mad Hatter wrote:What kind of elective is best?
I'd pick based on exam type, professor reviews, and subject matter. I didn't take my elective seriously and it was my lowest grade 1L year, so don't think you can just fuck around. If you have questions about a specific one you can PM me and I'll let you know if I've heard anything.

Are 1Ls graded on the same curve as 2/3Ls?
