I just want to point out WTF is up with my hometown of St. Louis and Milwaukee. Why are we these islands of soda? Maybe it's a beer city thing?
I will continue to say soda in Chicago also.

The infamous St. Louis soda ring! You say soda because you are enlightened people using the appropriate terminology.

I totally say Coke in casual company. I do, however, ask restaurants "What type of soda do you have?" I'm wondering what the "other" terms are...

"Soft drink" itself? Odd that it's not an option when the chart is asking for generic ways to describe soft drinks...JFo wrote:I totally say Coke in casual company. I do, however, ask restaurants "What type of soda do you have?" I'm wondering what the "other" terms are...

Is there somewhere that is popular to live in specifically for 2ls and 3ls? or do they kind of scatter around?

People are all over, I'd say a pretty good-sized crew in South Loop, and then Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Wicker Park, Wrigleyville....sarahlawg wrote:Is there somewhere that is popular to live in specifically for 2ls and 3ls? or do they kind of scatter around?

Do you get to pick your email address or do you just get a pre-assigned one?

I think the current students will vote on it sometime before the end of the year.Sentry wrote:When do we find out if we get UPasses?

Re: UChi 1Ls - 2 Quarters Down (!!) & Taking Questions
In the past it's been 19 students which is about the top 10% of the class. Our class is slightly larger and the board for next year has not yet decided (or at least announced a decision) about the break down for our class. (I think the board has some discretion about how many students to let on for grades or writing competition.)t-pain wrote:I don't expect to be anywhere close to what you would need, but does anyone have any idea of what GPA is normally required to grade-on to law review (18 spots, so about top 9%)?
I have heard that the top 10% cutoff after 1L falls somewhere between a 179.5-180. This is just what I've been told by 2 and 3Ls, though.

How much would transportation cost if the U Pass thing passes? Would that start next year if it passes?Xifeng wrote:Okay so I know this is pretty early to be thinking about budgeting and whatnot, but I'm trying to figure out how much I need to save up this summer.
Do you guys think the Chicago budget is generally pretty good? Like, transportation is listed at around $200 a month? How much do you think is typical to spend on food/month?

I want to hear about this too!
Also, if you have your own health insurance, do they still give you the health insurance section in loans?

To any UChicago law students, I have a question - if you'd be so kind!
Do any of your classes have teaching assistants? If so, do you know if they are advanced law students or if they are grad students?
Thanks

No, we do not.JurisDoctorate wrote: Do any of your classes have teaching assistants?
As for the questions about cost, I've found that I have waaaay too much loan money. I returned probably ~$5000. I'd guesstimate that their estimates are a bit high.

This is so good to know, thanks!!
