I'm a rising 2L - hopping on to answer a few questions.

Blurose: I lived offcampus, but very close to Hilgard. I think they are great apt. for grad school. Walkable to campus, new enough, decent size, good people generally, etc. However, for grad housing, and housing in the near area, they are pricey. Its super convenient, so you have to weigh what is most important to you. From a social perspective, its certainly nice the first few months to get to know other people not in your section that live in Weyburn and there is a definitie "weyburn" crowd by the end of the year. However, within a month or so, you'll know your section and where you live doesn't matter at all to making friends.

Also, you probably won't get another law student for a roommate - so be prepared to get to know a chem grad student or russian studies. Sometimes thats a good thing because you'll have different schedules and different times to be stressed out. Two 1Ls in a small space can be dangerous come memo time.

Hobojarpen: I have no idea what LRAP is....what does it stand for?

How have the job prospects been for UCLA law grads that you've come aross if you don't mind my asking?

UCLA was on my list of targeted schools that I'd be greatly interested in attending.

2L here who recently finished OCI. Grades right at/below median. From my experience I can say that job prospects are not great: the top 20-30% are doing fine but the drop off after that is severe. And even the 20-30% who do land the big firms are not necessarily getting there through traditional OCI. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes hustle that goes on that seldom gets written about on TLS. The takeaway is UCLA is not immune, not even in LA, to the generally bad market.
