Yeah I ate a steak quesadilla and loaded nachos for lunch. Tex mex is another thing I'm looking forward to in Austin.

dude, between torchys, salt lick, taco deli, kerbey lane, chuys, Rudys, south congress cafe, and best wurst, you will absolutely be huge. I've already come to terms with it.

Any other current or potential students gonna be in town and free tomorrow? I'm sitting in on a class at 12:30 and then have nothing planned. I was just gonna hang around and see what I can figure out about the overall environment of the school on a day when everybody is there. PM me if you're interested in meeting up and/or doing the same thing.

Anyone going to the ASD this week? I wanted to go, but couldn't because of a work issue.

But will one be able to get a job after graduation that will enable them to continue such gastronomical habits?

JazzOne, I noticed that you mentioned you had a SA position (I believe it was SA) for this summer that pays above market. I am assuming that means they pay market or above for first year associates. How common is this? I have seen the NLJ 250 figure for 2010, and it is right above 25%. Do you think that because most large firms are based in NYC, DC, and Chicago, there are more students from UT finding market salary in Texas from smaller firms, possibly skewing the meaning of the NLJ 250 stats? My concern is not so much biglaw or not, it is more market salary or not. I want to get out of debt as soon as possible out of graduation.

Does anyone here regret at all choosing Texas? Or wish they had gone somewhere else? Or have any friends who feel this way at UT?

Can I ask where you're from, your year, and what other schools you were considering?

Not at all. Maybe OCI next year will change my mind, but so far I've been extremely happy with my choice.

From Texas, 1L, and was deciding between Northwestern, UVA, and UT.

Also, your pant inseam (in cm, none of that inches BS), your choice of snow tires, and your Social Security Number. Thanks!

What made you choose UT over the others? Wanting to stay in Texas? $? Visiting the schools? I 'm in a similar situation -- trying to convince myself to take UT over some T14s, though different ones than you and I'm not a Texan, either.

Decision came down to UT and UVA since $$ at both and NU would've been sticker.
Reasons:
1) I knew I wanted to stay in TX.
2) around 50-60k cheaper than UVA.
3) Wanted to stay near family, friends, and gf.

Anyone know UT students looking for work outside of Texas (including neighboring states as well) and what their prospects are? Is this reasonable for people outside of the top 20% of the class? Have you even met any students with this goal at UT?

I mean, you can ask, but none of it's really relevant to why I don't regret going to Texas. I love it for these broad reasons, in no particular order:

    * my profs are ballers
    * my classmates are interesting
    * every fellow 1L I know has either a summer job or offers (mine's in government in my home state, not Texas), so I'm excited about my post-school career prospects
    * Austin's a fantastic town
    * I enjoy law school in general

I'm sure I would have done fine elsewhere, but Texas is just a great fit for me.

I've enjoyed my choice.

3L, not from TX, but staying in TX post-graduation (by choice; I had offers to be an SA in a few cities around the country, but chose to stay in TX for 2L summer and loved one of the firms I was at).

Chose UT over some higher ranked schools, but the cost of attending UT was probably $50K lower than those schools. Plus, I wanted to go to a bigger school with some decent sports teams. Was also apathetic about where I ended up after graduation.

Question:

I've decided on UT. I'm wondering when you find out your classes for first semester?
