A lot of the stuff between Forest Park and Delmar is owned by Quadrangle though so look there. You might also consider the area between Skinker and Debaliviere and Forsyth west of Big Bend. I'd recommend finding a 2-4 BR and getting some roommates off the roommate list Wash U provides. You can get a nicer place for cheaper that way. Obviously some risk with maybe getting a bad roommate, but some of my best friends now are the guys that I found on that list.

Thanks for the advice, I'd been avoiding looking on Craigslist to this point.

Look just north of delmar on Craigslist and you should find a ton of apartments for cheap within walking distance of the school. It's a very good location and relatively affordable. As others have mentioned, quadrangle is fine too but pricey.

Maybe LLM's transferring to JD's? Also, I know one person was suspended last semester and returned, so that person may be one.

No, there are actually a pretty fair number of new people who transferred in.

Starting in the Spring semester though instead of fall?

Hmm. I didn't see the Fall cutoffs, but if there's a big difference, then yeah, the LLM explanation makes sense.

You may be able to email the committee head or someone like that for an ETA. It is getting kind of late. Or if you know anyone on the boards, they may have an idea too.

Got this in an email from CCD:

Resume Collect Employers"
For some employers who cannot interview on campus, we arrange a Resume Collect. As the name suggests, we collect interested students’ credentials and mail them, as a group, to the employer. These are employers who want to review Washington University Law students’ resumes at one time. Once we send the group mailing, any further communication will come directly from the employer. Bidding for Resume Collect employers will be found in Symplicity under the “OCI” tab. You need to bid for these employers just as you would if they were coming on campus.

There's nothing under the OCI tab for this, at least for me. Can another rising 2L chime in so I know whether there's something wrong on my end? Am I just not seeing it?

Thanks!

Resume collects aren't in a separate place. You bid on them in the same way as anything else (although they don't count against the total). It should say in symplicity whether any given employer is a resume collect, and anyone who is a resume collect won't have an interview date listed.

anybody else finds the OCI firms are on the disappointing side :? we each are allowed 50 bids, and I don't even see 50 firms on the list (discounting the direct sends/resume collect)

It's always like that. The bid restriction is not meaningful.

Yes, shockingly bad IMO. But better than some other schools I've seen.

This comes up in the thread pretty much every year so you really shouldn't be surprised by it. I doubt the list is materially worse than any recent year. Most of the firms interviewing will be at the off-campus programs in NYC, with a smattering added in DC, Chicago, LA, Texas, etc., so it's very important that you apply to those if you want a firm job (and all the more reason to mass mail). The Cravaths of the world aren't falling all over themselves to recruit kids from Wash U. It's just fine with them if they get 0 in any given summer class. This is a big part of why there's no lottery system at WUSTL: there just aren't enough firms to make it work.

So word on the street is that we're not going to hear about journal anytime soon because there are some slackers on the committee who just haven't turned in their grading. Deadline was last Monday I think. All of the rumors about hearing back this weekend were from committee members who did turn in their grading and assumed the others would sometime soon. That doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Considering how so many people opted out of write-on and our smaller class size, each person must have had to grade relatively fewer submissions.

Just lol wustttl just lol

How would you even know if they were graded fairly at this point.

That's really not okay considering our OCI bids are due on Sunday...

I hope it is LR that fucked up.

And sorry guys. My assumption would be that OCI bids would be delayed until you have journal news.

Called them yesterday, there is an email circulating around the law school staff saying that it should be sent out by the end of the week.

This type of thing makes it so much more likely that people will decide to stay instead of transferring

Missing a deadline by a day or two is a "fuck up."

Missing it by a week or more is intentional.

That email is probably "please turn in your grading ASAP" which will be shit on by the slackers.

I am on an E-board of a journal and it seems like the write on process caused a lot of drama this year. It needs to be seriously examined and perhaps even redesigned.
