I heard indirectly, so I can't guarantee it - but what happened last year was that they sent out the cutoffs and ranks and then, a week or two later, they sent out updated cutoffs. If you requested a Dean's Cert, you'd be included in the pool of transfers leaving, so you'd be required to use the original cutoffs on your resumes for OCI.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
I think your plan is a good idea, and may provide more of a boost to your chances than being from DC. I think working in DC may help as well. I don't remember a straight up "ties" question ever coming up during an interview in DC, and while there was a fair amount of "why DC" I never felt like "because I'm from Virginia and most of my pre-law friends live and work there" was a satisfactory answer to that question, by itself.scottidsntknow wrote:I've heard this echoed before on TLS, but do you have any ideas if DC ties help at all? I'm from DC and I'd love to return, but obviously DC is tough for everyone right now so I didn't know if I had a leg up at all. I plan on meeting up with some WUSTL alumni in firms here this summer just to kinda get the ball rolling since I'm here and it couldn't hurt.hoos89 wrote:As for interviewing in DC specifically: that market is just hyper competitive, and ties don't really matter that much.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
almighty elders,
There are multiple off-campus days for some cities, should we register/bid on all of them? I stalked some NYC firms to see which day they're participating in (e.g. Cleary is only going to August 1, not attending the 4th/5th) But is the credited strategy to just bid on ALL THE THINGS and wait to see what you get? I would prefer to not spend too much on flights/hotel if possible and only participate in one of the fairs, but willing to spend the money if it's safer to do so

Bid on all of them and you get notification on your interviews. Once you get that, you can decide whether it's worth it to actually go. If not, e-mail the recruiter and say you'll be there on x day and would love to interview still...cusenation wrote:almighty elders,

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
Bear in mind that if you bid on a firm that's going to two different days, they will generally not interview you on both days. If you aren't planning to attend both, then you should probably just pick one day from the start so that you can decide which day (if any) they will interview you. It's definitely safer to go to both so long as there is at least one unique firm at each, but it's up to you whether it's really worth it.cusenation wrote:almighty elders,

Not an elder, but at PLIP (patent jerb fair), it is apparently not uncommon to get CBs by schmoozing at firm's hospitality suites. Does this work at regional fairs, too?

Only two firms last year had these suites but there were people that did get interviews form them with varying degrees of success.bulinus wrote:Not an elder, but at PLIP (patent jerb fair), it is apparently not uncommon to get CBs by schmoozing at firm's hospitality suites. CSO gets mad for cancelling for sure but if you can hope to reschedule the interviews then do so. They have a waiting list for pre-selects for a reason so people definitely cancel interviews.

CSO emailed us a reminder email that has a separate link to a CSO page. Click on "Off-Campus Programs" then enter the username/password (PM me or email them if you don't know it) and then you can click on the various cities.Cellar-door wrote:Are these up on Symplicity yet? OK, I had seen that. I thought they had hit symplicity, since they don't have the New England firms on that page.cusenation wrote:CSO emailed us a reminder email that has a separate link to a CSO page. Thanks.
New England doesn't have pre-registration, and doesn't seem to have a separate page, it says the regular WashU symplicity page will be used and bids open Wednesday for 3 days, that's why I was worried I somehow was missing it.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
Registration question.
I currently have 15 credits, in 5 classes. I have to drop a 2 credit class (the professor forgot to put that you would be at a disadvantage if you hadn't taken Admin.) and I'm debating whether to take a 1 credit weekend course for a total of 14 credits, or a 3 credit course that I find more interesting but leaves me at 16 credits and with 5 real finals.
Thoughts?

Five is doable but will be brutal.Cellar-door wrote:Registration question.

do not take five finals unless you absolutely have to.Cellar-door wrote:Registration question.

I'd honestly avoid taking four if possible.notedgarfigaro wrote:do not take five finals unless you absolutely have to.Cellar-door wrote:Registration question.

"Supposed to" being the operative phrase haha. There are still seven 1L professors who haven't submitted yet (but apparently Law just submitted)disco_stu wrote:Grades are supposed to be in today, right? I suspect a few haven't even started grading.

I actually don't even know if he's tenured because he's an LP instructor...Apparently he's a baller in the St. Louis legal world though. But to me he's just an LP instructor who delayed all 1L cutoffs after the Fall term.Ricky-Bobby wrote:tenurecusenation wrote:"Supposed to" being the operative phrase haha.
