From the looks of the course listing, it looks like this will be the case again next year, at least for Crim and Con law.
Aw really? Boo :/
I personally think it's better that way. You get closer with your section, and you don't talk about law school shit as much at bar reviews and happy hours because people aren't all taking the same subjects so you can't talk about some contract case when only half the people are in contracts.

I know others may disagree, but that is my personal take on it.

Birdnals that's fair, I was just saying I'd rather not take civ pro or con law my first semester haha.

I don't think there was a single 1L class I legit disliked, but I had the best professors for Civ Pro and Con Law, so that could have factored into it.

Yea, it was highly prof related for me (Greenfield/Drobak) and I legit hated property (Konig).

I really feel terrible for the kids with him at 8am in Fall.
Yea I mean I obviously know nothing, so that's fair. I just figure that I'll enjoy contracts and torts, who knows.

That's 12 classes, and it makes me wonder if they are going back to 6 sections. One single section class + 2 double classes for 6 sections = 12 classes.

I'm surprised to see Appleton teaching Crim law (Her area is family law / conflicts of law) but I really like her. Also, even as a unabashed Konig liker, I can't imagine how Konig could possibly be worse than Mandelker.

Flagg is retiring, so that may be part of it. And yea, I thought Appleton teaching crim was weird too.

And I like Konig a lot as a person, it is just that class....
Wash U doesn't really have a great property professor, or arguably even a good one. I'd take Konig in a heartbeat over Mandelker though.

Agreed. She was obviously still getting her teaching legs under her and needed a bit more experience leading large class, but is insanely intelligent and I actually enjoyed the subject of property with her teaching. Sucks she isn't teaching it next year.

Who is the third teacher next year?

Also, does anybody know how long we have before Greenfield retires?
There isn't one.

Apparently the other sections are getting Property in the spring, and we don't have access to the spring schedule.

Late. I think it was August this past year.

Incoming 0L here, moving to St. Louis from Canada. Wondering if you guys have any insider tips on housing, ie places to avoid or specifics to look out for on listings that I may not think to look for. I'm looking primarily in the CWE right now because I've heard that's an area with more of a young-professional feel with lots of law and med students, but I've spent my entire life in Montreal and stayed home for undergrad so if anyone can provide some insight into neighborhoods and possible buildings, that would be great

I think you underestimate the ineptitude of Konig's class. I don't know a single thing about real property. Nothing.
That's not true. Real Property needs a title. I think.

Just as a heads up to incoming 1L's, every single one of you with Konig for property is extremely lucky to not have Mandelker

I urge you to disregard most comments that criticize Konig, as they usually come from:

a) those who don't realize how much better Konig is compared to Mandelker; OR

b) those who didn't get a good grade on his exam.

Konig gave out two 100's last semester, as an incoming first year student this alone should make you cross your fingers and hope to get Konig. Plus he's an amazing person, extremely intelligent, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

I'd say cross your fingers and hope you don't have Property in the fall. Dinner is back in the spring, and I'd guess that she'll have property on her schedule. (All I know for sure is she is teaching her Individual rights course)

I thank my lucky starts every day for the fact that I didn't get property with Mandelker. The amount of criticism Konig gets is unjustifiable, the most people can complaint about is a personal preference against his teaching style.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
