Wow.

Our students also fall in love with our city.

Yes. My favorite aspect of the city: the crime. Remember when that girl got kidnapped by gunpoint in our parking garage?

Didn't you get your car broken into multiple times Kabuo?

It did last year. Once in fall and once in spring. Haven't been broken into yet this semester though, fingers crossed.

Crazy.

My wife had to pick a guy out of a photo line-up after he jacked a whole bunch of stuff from the mall and then ran into our neighborhood and knocked on the door asking to use the phone.

I've never experienced any crime during my time in St. Louis, but there is no way I've fallen in love with the city.

Lived here my whole life, no crime committed against me.You are fine in 90% of the neighborhoods south of Delmar.

I personally am a fan of the City, but living in Chicago taught me I'm not personally a "big city" fan. Probably because I loath public transit.

public transit is very often a cultural thing. People in cities like NY and CHI love public transit. Everyone uses it. In a place like StL, public transit is viewed by a lot of people as something for the lower class to use. "Don't extend the metro link out to the suburbs, then the blacks might come visit us!"

Also, remember the SLU Volleyball alum that was murdered in Central West End (1 block north of Lindell and Taylor)? Yeah. I love StL.

It's a city, there is going to be some crime, including violent crime. Go to Chicago, where the daily paper has a full page of the various shootings that happened the day before. I'm not saying STL is crime free, I'm saying if you live in a metro area there is going to be crime no matter where you go. STL's crime is no better or worse than most other major cities, it just gets a bad rep.

lolok. Because if there is one thing people love in the morning it's being stuffed like sardines in a metal tube, or waiting outside for the next bus because it's 7:00 AM and the last 4 have been full. They don't do it for the "cultural experience", they do it because it costs 45 bucks a day to park in the Chicago Loop.

ETA: This is not to say believe the whole "people fall in love with the city" schtick, it's a mediocre mid-sized Midwest city, no different than a Columbus OH or Milwaukee WI. If that is what you are into then you will like it, if you like either college towns or big cities better then you won't.

I'll just say STL isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Does that mean I fell in love with it?

So the FBI says take data with a grain of salt. That doesn't change that multiple sources rank StL as not such a safe place in comparison with other places. That being said, I've never felt unsafe except for the murder I mentioned and the time I was physically assaulted outside my apartment.

I didn't mean public transit is a cultural experience. I would argue that's what STLouisans would call it. I'm saying that the culture of major cities is to take public transit when they can and they actually prefer it (even if it is only because of the $45/day parking you reference).

I'm probably one of the bigger STLhaters out there though, since I did my undergrad there as well.
But I do like WashU itself a lot.

Never been a victim of crime in STL, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my three years living here. Well, minus the whole going to law school part.

For people talking about neighborhoods - I'm in the CWE about a block from that shooting on Maryland and Taylor. That's definitely the most serious crime I've ever been aware of in that neighborhood though. The cars get hit once a semester according to my landlady. Maybe now they recognize my car and remember that it has nothing valuable in it.

Everyone wants to keep bringing up this shooting, but let's be fair... how many shootings occur in CWE? It was a pretty random one-off event for that area of St. Louis. I mean, if there was a shooting in Clayton tomorrow, would that make it unsafe?

The CWE's biggest problem (from what I hear) is car break-ins, which is exacerbated by the lack of non-street parking for most residents of hte area.

So now that everyone is done with it...

How crappy were the MC questions on Rosen's evidence exam (rhetorical question)? There were about 10 I wanted to challenge, and I'm only certain I got about 5 of the rest right. He really shouldn't try to write his own MC questions... he's not savvy or precise enough to make it work.

Rosen is a notoriously bad exam-writer.

I guess I had heard this, but didn't contemplate at the time how much it would piss me off. I'm really expecting anything in the range from 85-Cali, depending on how well I was able to read his stupid mind with those MC.

Maybe if he'd asked some essay questions about his war stories from his time as an AUSA I would have felt more comfortable, given that's what 50% of class time was devoted to.

Meh, just your typical post-exam ranting. Nothing to see here.

Good luck. I already got that nightmare out of the way.

I think I skipped the last third of Evidence and I still got a 92 in the class, you'll be fine.

I'm going to be honest here, I don't even remember anything about the MC. I'm almost positive I had no opinion on that part of the test. All I recall is one of the essay questions had an extremely convoluted expert witness issue spotter rolled up into a trial lawyer strategy question type thing that threw me for a loop.

Fair enough. On ours, the only essay question was pretty straightforward and reasonable. Which is why I'm figuring the curve will come down to MC. He doesn't seem like the type who will give people more points on the essay for spewing a lot of BS.

Seriously how do I learn Ethics in three days? I've got a solid old outline but it's just words on a page to me right now. Supplements? CALI exercises? Anybody have any ideas or supplements or anything? Barbri outline? Somebody help a brotha out here.
