Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
Could a current 1L post or PM me what was up with a few of the exams this go around? I heard some rumblings of cheating and/or unfair advantages, but no one I know actually knows the specifics, only random rumblings.

certain 1L profs could have spent more time drafting their exams
certain 1Ls are delusional, anxious, and an embarrassment to the institution. also low iq i suspect
certain administrations could engage in less ass-covering/knee-jerk reactions and maybe hold certain professors responsible for their actions. also be less hypocritical
as a result a mass exodus of transfers would not be surprising, and it will be exciting to see how wustl's yield turns out this cycle after section C/D 1Ls have a go at ASW attendees

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
It doesn't really make sense for this to play a key role in your decision to transfer. The damage (if any) is done. I can see it affecting your decision to come here if you somehow knew this would happen before the fact, but tacking on a bunch of debt just to stick it to the professors/administration is not in your best interest. It's not like you'll be forced to take a class with those professors in the future. Also, it's not like WUSTL is the only school where this has happened.
I'm also not sure why you would be cheering for a low yield. All that would do is hurt WUSTL's numbers, and you're already here so that could only hurt you.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
I really enjoyed Antitrust, but it can get a bit tough. If you're into economics at all then you will probably enjoy it, and Drobak is awesome (I'd also be willing to send you my outline). Trial pretty much is what you put into it. If you're just shooting for a P then you can get by on very little work. That said, it could be a good class to take 3L when you're trying to slack off a bit. I haven't taken Tax, but the one Tax prof I've heard consistently good things about is Block, so you may want to hold out for her (although perhaps someone who has taken Weidenbeck can chime in here).Dolphine wrote:Yo any upperclassmen have thoughts on the following classes
Trial
Antitrust (drobak)
Advanced Negotiations (Hollander-Blumoff)
Mediation (Reeves)
Tax (Weidenbeck)
I gotta drop one but can't decide which one.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
i know there are a number of 1Ls that came here intent on transferring despite the tls wisdom. i know of others intent on transferring because of a disillusioning first semester combined with regional and familial goals/reasons. i also know there are a number of 1Ls trying to dissuade potential students from coming here regardless of what it may do to their own chances (perhaps out of naiveté). it's not like i can help what's already in motion, and i can't help but be interested in the outcome, whatever it may be. you have a point, but this is what's happening. i'm not speaking purely for myself here, and i'd appreciate you not addressing it as such.hoos89 wrote:It doesn't really make sense for this to play a key role in your decision to transfer. Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
Hi guys, I have two questions:
Is the class ranking published by name?
Can someone estimate the typical gpa cut off for top 10% and 25%?
Thanks!

Class rank isn't published. You get an email with exact rank if you are in the top 5%, otherwise you just judge your GPA vs. published cut offs for your general rank.valen wrote:Hi guys, I have two questions:

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
I took tax with Wiedenbeck based solely on the suggestion of my LP prof, despite having zero interest in tax. It turned out to be really interesting, and he's a good professor. He likes to randomly yell about mundane nuances of the tax code, and random yelling is always entertaining. Even though I doubt I'll ever use any of that knowledge in practice, it did give me a much better sense of how the tax system works.Dolphine wrote:Yo any upperclassmen have thoughts on the following classes

It's also one of those rare classes where understanding the material will put you ahead of the curve on the exam. I didn't write the best exam ever, but I understood the basic concepts and I got a good grade.

I would take a bullet for professor Osgood if I wasn't convinced he could stop it mid air with his piercing glance. He is that legit. The other two I will have next semester (I assume with you) but I've heard nothing but good things about both of them.

Re: WUSTL Recent Grad (and others) Taking Questions
Magarian is a phenomenal professor, clerked for Justice Stevens, and is a genius. He also has a 24 hour take home final with a strict 3,000 word limit, and taking that test was easily the worst experience of my law school career. It sucks. Magarian is probably my favorite wustl professor but I will never take another one of his classes because of his finals.
Papa Drobak is a wustl institution and is a great professor. He has a closed book final which will be tough but fair.
