Have you contacted them to ask for an extension? As long as you give them a reasonable alternative (Apr 15th?) and explain that without the extension you'll be withdrawing, I'm sure they'd work with you.

I've already withdrawn, but I was very impressed by their admissions folks and I would have been very happy going there if it had come down to my safety. Don't just give it up because a letter has given you a semi-arbitrary date.

i'm convinced. i emailed and asked if it were possible for them to extend the deadline for me...

if the response is positive, i think i'll be booking my flight today...

Sad, I know! It's okay... we can be TLS pen pals a state away (or 30, depending on whether or not you choose UConn) ! U of O is just too good of an offer for me to pass up, especially with in-state tuition and all.

Check out the Tahoe Park area of Sacramento, it's cheap. Not many apartments but smaller homes and duplexs for rent. It's also very close and an average middle class/working class neighborhood.

1. I felt semi-comfortable. The campus had a warm feeling to it (even though it was POURING down rain, haha) but the students didn't seem all that friendly. My guide was saying things like "you are guaranteed a job here" and "lawyer is a recession-proof job" which made me a little uneasy. I understand talking a school up but I like hearing the reality of the situation too.

3. The campus had a nice green appearance and was very quiet, which I appreciated. The courtroom and practice trial rooms are awesome. The library is old, small, and very out-of-date like a lot of the school though.

4. I think I could see myself going there, although I will need some more $ to make it work and am now working on my "why I need more aid" letter. I don't know if Sacramento is the city for me or do I know if I want to risk losing my scholly but sucking it up for some reason my 1L year and not finishing in the top 1/3. I have heard it is competitive and from what I saw today I kind of believe it.

Did you have a chance to interact with many students, seeing as you didn't get to sit in on a class, or was it pretty much just your guide and other 0Ls? If so do you have any thoughts other than what you already said, which was that they didn't seem too friendly?

Nothing more to add, really. I even said hi to a few people that were grouped together in a hallway and 2 of them ignored me and one gave me a very half-assed hi and kind of gave off the impression that I was bothering them. I saw none of the students interacting with each other and they were all doing their own thing.

For those that have had different experiences, I'm sorry but I'm telling the truth about my situation even though you could have experienced something else.

I've visited McGeorge as well (in November) and wanted to just say that I concur with A'nold. The campus is pleasant enough, though the neighborhood is a little sketchy. The admission staff and tour guide are really nice to talk to and deal with. However, I sat in on a property class and the students were not very engaged and often did not seem to know what the professor was talking about (he'd "cold call" a student and they'd say the wrong answer multiple times...sort of painful). The professor was not an excellent communicator although clearly knew his subject inside and out. I greeted several students in the class and none were interested in talking with me. In fact, the only student interested in telling me about McGeorge was the guide for my tour.

I am not entirely ruling out this school for myself (especially since it is my only acceptance so far) but I am holding out hope for others.

A McGeorge student called me last night to ask if I had any questions for her, which was nice. The problem was that I was in the middle of an timed online quiz, and had to cut her off in the middle of her spiel. Still appreciated the call, though.

I'll probably be withdrawing in the next week, my scholarship money can go to someone who really needs it.

A few quick questions about McGeorge for anybody who is willing to answer:

1. Are there gym facilities available to students? I hope so!

2. What is the health insurance like there? Do you have to go to a specific hospital, or do you just have a large provider network. Is the coverage pretty vast, or is it minimal?

3. What in the hell should I wear to Legal Scholar's Day? There is nothing about what to wear and I don't want to show up too dressed up or too dressed down.

Edit: Also, I am having an incredibly hard time figuring out where to live in Sacramento. Does anyone have actual apartment complex suggestions? I keep trying to search in Curtis Park but always end up with places southeast of the campus (which I'm gathering isn't the best area). I would really appreciate it!

Haha, I forgot to add. Another part of my tour that I thought was funny was that the tour guide kept saying how "brilliant" the faculty is. After saying this about 3 times he gets these really big eyes and starts (in an amazed kind of voice) to tell me what schools the prof's graduated from. He was like, "I have professors that graduated from George Washington, Fordam, UCLA" etc. He was talking about these schools like they were Yale. It was kind of funny.

I heard that McGeorge has a lot of out of state students, especially from Nevada. Also, I think the campus is OK but pretty small. Does anyone know the real job prospects of McGeorge grads? I mean besides for working in Sacramento.

Yes.

It's an HMO through Aetna. I've been fine with the coverage. Biggest problem I have is there's no dental plan.

I'd just wear whatever you are comfortable in. You can call the admissions office if you want to be sure though.

It depends on what you are looking for in a neighborhood. Curtis Park, Land Park, and East Sac are quiet, residential areas. Curtis Park and Land Park are west of campus. East Sac is northeast of campus. Downtown and midtown are more urban. I can't point to specific complexes though (I live in midtown where a lot of places are small apt buildings or converted houses and units.) Check craigslist.

Maybe try to head out to Sac on an apt hunting blitz for a few days about 1.5 months before you want to move here.

Thursday night is bar review. That would be an interesting thing to go to to interact with current students.

I will be in Sac from March 14th -21st! I am soo excited. I am looking at apartments in the pocket area, they seem pricey but I have a dog and not many places accept big dogs ... If any one knows of another apartment complex close to McGeorge and Sac State (my fiance is moving with me and going there) that is really safe and more afordable please let me know! How many people are going to the March 20th event?

If you're living with someone else (fiance) and have a larger dog you might want to look at renting a house. There are more than a few neighborhoods where a house isn't much more expensive than an apartment.

Phew! Finally made it to the end of this 44-page thread! It's comforting to know that McGeorge has some dedicated and excited students/future students.

I haven't been accepted yet, but I'm going to be visiting the campus on the 18th and 19th of March. If anyone is in town for the Legal Scholars Day, or just in town to visit the school, let me know! I want to look at apartments around the area as well just to see what the surrounding neighborhoods are like.

I will be visiting from March 14-21st! I am so excited.. I will also be looking for apartments and houses. Like I said before I will be looking for an apartment in the Pocket area. My mom lives there and it is supposed to be really safe and nice. Its only 10 minutes from McGeorge. The zipcode is 95831, hopefully that helps your apt search.
