Honestly, no. By that logic, the poster could say "since the most qualified applicants all go to Yale, Columbia's contention that they try to admit only the best is a crock".

What if Columbia's contention is only that they admit the best remaining?

Your claim was that their "we look for well rounded, unique applicants" approach was crap, because those people already go to HYS and CCN. The fact that such applicants go to HYS and CCN doesn't mean Boalt can't still look for them. Moreover, to suggest that they don't get any of these people would mean that every such applicant ends up at one of the 'better' schools. This is an untenable premise.

To be fair, that wasn't my claim.

I hope that 503 passes and Boalt does away with the LSAT entirely.

How will they admit people then? Number of 7+ pitchfork-rated albums on their iPod?

F**k Pitchfork.

Boalt and UVA both have 25th percentiles of 165. In fact, UVA's 25th percentile GPA of 3.54 is less than Boalt's 3.69.

Boalt's 25th is 164...lowest out of any top 14. And its median (168, but last year it was 167) is also the lowest out of every top 14 except Cornell. UVA's median is 170 and its median GPA is also higher than Boalt's.

Look at the number of splitters Boalt vs UVA takes. Higher medians doesn't make for a better class. Boalt demands a student be well balanced or it dings them. UVa just cares that you are over one median.

If they're taking that many 164- kids, BoalTTT's got as much of a hard-on for reverse splitters as UVA does for the superior brand. It's not even a competent attempt at gaming since their median GPA is lower than UVA's.

no way boalts class is higher quality then UVAs.....everyone know reverse splitter=polisci/psych/theatre major who has a 4.0 and 165..on the other hand...real splitter usually=science, business, real major with decent grades (enough to get by) and fucking kill the lsat cause theyre smart

If by well balanced you mean average in all aspects, then yeah, I agree.

UVA isn't only taking real major splitters. Their splitters on LSN are polisci, business, econ, English and chem. Only the chem is a hard degree, and econ is so so. Business degrees are downright easy. UVA is also taking the same 4.0 165's Boalt is taking.

I'm not sure why I'm arguing this because my 2.8/176 is the king of rankings gaming.
