I'm a K-JD so I'm intending on working part time to save up a little money for during the year. I also have a number of weddings to attend so I'll be traveling a lot. Other than that just relax, swim, enjoy the summer.

I wrap up a 10+ year military career on July 11th, so I'm excited for the summer and my first stretch of more than 10 days off since my early 20s! I'll be mostly hanging out with my son, visiting family, playing golf, and reading. I have a couple half-marathons as well before running the Chicago Marathon in October. These recent weeks/months are moving so slow!

Going to try to shoehorn a short cruise or something similar in there since my wife and I may not be able to go anywhere for a while once school starts.
I am attempting to buy a home (sadly long commute from both work and school, because of special school considerations for my daughter). Will likely take take a week or so off for moving once the home situation is sorted out.
Other than that I will be working as usual, saving vacation time in case I need it as the term moves forward.

Well, I am now a home owner. I have two months before my lease runs out on my rental house, so I am likely to spend some time/money on minor renovations on the 'new' place before we move.linkx13 wrote:Taghaus wrote:Sounds promising.ScottRiqui wrote:Retiring from my current career in June, prepping for the patent bar so I can get it knocked out in July, and moving to my new city in August. Getting discharged from the military at the end of this month. Then, a romp across Europe from Amsterdam to Nice, which will take up most of June.

As an east-coaster set to return to DC after 10 years spent clowning around Los Angeles, I'll spend the summer saying goodbye to just about everyone I know, while soaking up as much sun, sand, and (real) Mexican food as possible.
From there I'll jet around the state on mini-trips up the coast to Big Sur and on to Napa, and probably head down to San Diego to get my last taste of brew country straight from the source. The big adventure comes in early July, when we take to the skies to see my wife's family in New Zealand. Apparently she's making me bungee jump, because that's what everyone does in NZ. Then it's back to real life and coordinating a massive multi-destination move, eventually landing us somewhere in DC.
Summer will be a whirlwind of activity and emotion. Then the semester starts, and life goes on lockdown.

Update: one of my buddies got a job in Seattle and invited me to road trip with him across the country. We've been driving for a week, taking our time camping and seeing a lot of cool stuff. Just got to Seattle, gonna unload all his stuff and then start exploring. Will be here for another week before returning to the east coast, should be a good time. Really glad I got to take a little adventure after jealously reading about everyone's travel plans!

Backpacking around Europe for 20 days with a few buddies, spending a few weeks back at home in Southern California, getting a quick Vegas trip in, and then making the drive from California to Durham. Literally putting every penny of savings to use before plunging into debt! Might as well enjoy what will probably be my last free Summer.

I've been watching netflix, traveling, and watching tennis. Pretty chilled summer and I get to catch up with family too. So glad I didn't have to work this summer.

I will most likely be spending my time playing with my dog, chilling with friends, and reading some of my favorite books. Trying to camp a little bit as well, but working full time is hindering that.

Mine gets paid out when I leave, so I'm accumulating like a motherfucker. I'm around 160 hours of PTO right now.Baby_Got_Feuerbach wrote:Using up all my sick time from work...

Oh, yeah I was very careful not to use up vacation time, which will get paid back to me (sitting at 50 hours unused). Sick time is mine to enjoy.Serett wrote:Mine gets paid out when I leave, so I'm accumulating like a motherfucker.
