Yeah, I'm planning to call the housing office to see what my options are. I'm actually flexible on the move-in date (just chose an early one to be safe), so maybe that'll help. Otherwise, I suppose I'll have to choose between having a car and living on campus, since it seems prohibitively expensive to have both. Thanks for the advice - good to know there's some sort of precedent out there![/quote]

You're welcome.

Sounds like a plan, good luck!

Does anyone want to take over as OP?

Any takers? I feel bad since I withdrew a while ago and won't make new polls or help provide any useful info.

I would love to. How do we go about this?

Thanks, joshringu! I think I can just ask a mod - we'll find out if it works!

It seems like UCLA's orientation is really intense. They've been posting a few videos and such in the MYLaw section about it. It's a week long, covering substantive law, there will be homework, and it provides 1 credit of pass/fail. Wow...

This may be a silly question for some, but do students need to dress professionally to classes on a daily basis? And also for orientation week?
I get mixed answers from my friends from other law schools so I'm wondering what's the case for UCLA

I suppose it depends on what you mean by "professional". I probably wouldn't recommend pajamas or something like that but it is pretty casual (jeans, shorts, khakis etc). Southern California is very chill. If they want you to dress up they'll let you know. It seems that they want us to dress up for convocation.

This might help if you've never been on campus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ6dYBCH9zI

It looks like the students just left class and will give you a limited idea of how students dress (versus just describing it in words).

I graduated in 2013. Students dress in their best casual clothes the first week. By October they will be showing up late in their pajamas.
