Good luck to all of you dealing with scholarship negotiations; there's a least one more Ruby on the table and I hope it goes to one of my fellow TLSers! It was fantastic meeting all of you and good luck with law school whether you wind up at UChi or elsewhere.
Headed to Harvard?
That's the tentative plan. Going to ride that Yale WL and I might even hear back from SLS some day

Scholly increased by 50%. Granted my initial offer was low to begin with and it still qualifies as low now, but something!

Congrats! Mind sharing an approximate submission date/any outstanding deadlines that could have prompted an earlier response? (Feel free to PM)

Thanks and no prob--submitted my form Tuesday. I had a scholarship deposit deadline that was yesterday so that's probably what prompted expedited response?

Don't post on TLS much, but I'm in sort of a tough spot, and I could use some advice/direction. I was planning on depositing at Chi until I got offered a Levy (full tuition) at Penn yesterday. Chi didn't give me much in terms of merit $, but I still really liked it/thought I was worth the money. I'm trying to negotiate now, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to get a decision by the Penn deadline. How much more would you be willing to pay for Chicago vs Penn?
Probably zero, unless you have a reason to be in Chicago, like you want to work there after graduation. Their biglaw rates are near identical:

so the whole "CCN" thing (if it ever really is a thing) isn't compelling in this case.

I'm bummed that Chicago didn't match my NYU offer, but it's even more of a downer that they didn't increase my aid at all during my review. Anyone got any advice on how to proceed? I'm thinking I should try to negotiate again closer to the deposit deadline.

Anyone have luck requesting a second financial aid review? Also, is it TCR to wait until shortly before the deadline to make such a request?

I requested a second review but I haven't heard back yet. Many haven't heard back about their first review yet so I'm assuming they will come back to me later. Aren't you going to NU?

I was pretty set on NU, but then I calculated the cost difference and it wasn't all that much. TLS is resoundingly in favor of Chicago now (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=228405&view=viewpoll).

^same. still waiting for a response from UChi but the wait is killing me.
for those who've already heard back about their reconsidered scholarships, how long did it take to get a response?

Best I can tell, everyone who has heard back indicated an earlier deposit deadline. Chicago seems to do everything in waves around 5 pm est, so I'm guessing that everyone else will be notified late tomorrow afternoon.

Does anyone know if it's worth it to try to negotiate a second time or am I just going to get laughed at? My initial offer was half what people on LSN got last year with similar numbers and negotiating with $$$ from a lower top 10 didn't really seem to help (I can provide exact figures in a pm if need be).

I don't see how you have much to lose, but it might be good to have an angle or something.

thanks, all! It wasn't a huge offer to begin with, but definitely not negligible once doubled

Re: Chicago Law Class of 2017
Everyone should negotiate a second time. The worst thing they can do is say no. I hope DP doesn't find out who I am though because that probably creates more work for her.
