For some reason I thought at first glance the beer was gluten-free, which it appears is not.

I dug the ubiquitous Fire Eagle. There's something to be said for beer in a can, in the right time and place. Old Chub has a special part of my heart for the same reason.

Jebus, that looks incredible. Yah, I'm down. (I've heard great things about the 512 Pecan Porter that pulls up first, too)

Almost signed a lease that would have been July 15, but we backed out at the last second. Still hunting!

I have a pretty flexible week schedule, so if anyone wants some real, non-staged pics of a place. Let me know and I'd happily check it out for you.

That being said, the 512 brewing company is awesome. I was at a "pub" up in Waco while visiting a friend a few weeks ago and he insisted I had to try it because it was the best beer ever. He went so far as to say "I've never seen it, so I bet you don't have it in Austin." I then reminded him 512 is the Austin area code.

Come in and you guys are talking about beer. I think I like you guys. Live Oak Hefe is just a fantastic summer beer and it's available everywhere here. Also even though I pretty much drink exclusively craft beer, I don't turn my nose up at Shiner Ruby Red, it's pretty tasty. Pecan Porter is another great local beer that is on tap everywhere. Flying Saucer is nice, but it can get ridiculously crowded and there are places with slightly better beer selection that are way more chill. Draught House is my personal favorite. Super low key and chill but with an absolutely amazing tap list. FS may have more taps, but the quality at DH is higher for sure.

I really believe Ruby Redbird was made as a great beer to take out to the lake when other craft beers aren't available (although Shiner marketers would argue they're a craft beer :P ). FS can get crowded, but I've never really had a huge problem with it. I haven't been to DH though, guess I need to go!

I'd also recommend pretty much anything from Hops & Grain. They have a great tap room as well.

Sweet, wish I would have known about these places for my visit. Thanks y'all.

I had one at Craft Pride on Rainey, which was a very neat place.

Oh yeah I momentarily forgot about Craft Pride. That might be my actual favorite because they have an amazing pizza food truck in the back. Not to mention ~50 Texas craft beers.

A fine choice.

I would have a desk beer... except I work for the government and have to go through security.

I'm not sure what they would do about the UT Law bottle. Don't know if having to send in another C&F addendum is really worth the risk

The fact that this:
http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/28/63/

is $9-10 for a 6 pack in TX is a sin against humanity. Also, having to buy hard alcohol from liquor stores instead of grocery stores is uber lame and such a money drain.

The only Oskar Blues I can get where I live is Old Chub (which I love). I'm sure I'd love that Stout, though.

Is Anchor really cheap back in your homeland, Zuck? That's what it costs here too, but I'm a little more partial to their porter.

Also, everyone thinks you're an alcoholic/you're an alcoholic if you hide your desk beer. You gotta be brazen about it.

Most definitely. I do quite a bit of infusing. This week I did a lime/tequila (with cheap, crappy tequila), and it turned out great. Before that I did a habanero tequila which would make your lips and mouth burn for twenty minutes but was a great party gag. I'm not sure why more people don't infuse. Cut up your desired fruit/vegetable, drop it right into the bottle (or buy custom bottles if you want to be fancy) and remove after a week or a few days depending on what it is. Jalapeno infused tequila makes an outstanding Bloody Mary. I've also done vodka but generally prefer tequila because of the natural pairings (sweeter things for vodka, spicier for tequila).

Also, if you have only one desk beer, you're probably struggling to be an alcoholic. If we miss BigLaw/clerk/prestigious PI, we can always go solo --> mini fridge (and we may need to). Silver linings!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
