Yup. Law school is too damn expensive.
Rent is too damn high.
True dat. I really wonder how smart it is to go to columbia at sticker if you're wholly on the government/PI track.....any thoughts?
That's what LRAP is for, no?

Ikr. All I want is my parents blessing and you'll probably see me there. They're so amazingly debt averse, understandably but still.

Edit: Forget the debt probz, I'm already trying to figure out how I'll be able to go to Coachella and EDC next year as a 1L :(

At least we'll have Mysteryland though right?

Oh god don't remind me. Already got my EDC ticket, searching for a Coachella ticket on craigslist and i keep thinking to myself "you should really start saving for law school instead of blowing $$ on festivals"

i'm sorely tempted to sell m EDC ticket for profit.

Don't do it! You'll get a small amount of money out of it but honestly, when will you be able to go to EDC again? It may be extremely difficult if not impossible to go to EDC, or Chella, when in law school and surely impossible when practicing as an attorney :(

Very true. I figure this is my last hurrah before life starts getting serious. Besides, I think it becomes socially unacceptable to dance around half naked once law school starts. I would seriously be willing to fly back to CA for Coachella as a 1L if time/money permits, definitely one of the best experiences of my life.

Have yet to go to chella and won't be able to go this year :( So I'll figure it out during 1L haha. Hopefully I can find some rave buddies in law school, would def make the experience more fun (especially since NYC has so many amazing clubs!)

I was gonna give up raving in law school because I figured no one there would be into it but if there are as many amazing clubs as you say....maybe not haha.

I'm basically not attending any ASWs because of Coachella (I was really hoping to have gotten admitted earlier so I could have made the March ones) and I really hope this doesn't come back to bite me in the ass when I try to negotiate scholarships. I don't want to be accused of not demonstrating genuine interest in the school because I didn't go to ASW.

If you end up going to Columbia we can be rave buddies haha. And why don't you just go weekend 2? That way you can go to ASW and Coachella...win win. If you have weekend 1 tickets it should be super easy to find someone to trade for their weekend 2 tix, considering that weekend 1 is the more sought after weekend.

I saw a Facebook group for CLS students going to Electric Zoo. I'd be lying if I said that didn't affect my decision.

You guys will have money for NYC clubs? It's like 40 bucks alone just to get in.

I'm fairly happy that I tend to not enjoy myself at those places and prefer dive bars. It's probably saved me hundreds.

Clubs in New York (and elsewhere) are a waste of money, but the bolded is not true. Unless you show up with a group of 5 guys and need to try and bribe the bouncer to get in.

Different strokes for different folks. If I'm going to spend money irresponsibly, I'd rather spend it on shaking my booty to my favorite DJs' sets than on marked-up drinks in a bar (or exotic meats, rare comic books, ocarinas, and whatever other frivolous joys people blow money on).

I don't think you really need to pay for that in NYC.

Yay rave buddies! I'll most likely end up at CLS if the HLS wait list doesn't pull through. I would love to go weekend 2, tickets are waaayyyy cheaper but sadly, the group i'm going with wants to go weekend 1 and most of them already have tickets.

Do all clubs cost that much in NYC? I dunno, I've never had to pay to get into a club unless there was a well known DJ playing. Even Vegas clubs cost like 20 bucks, and even then, its really easy to get in for free. But then again....I am female...

Quite honestly, I don't know. I know pachas, and always assumed other places are like that. I may have shot it too high with that.

So I'm going to the ASW and will be landing around midnight...anyone else doing that? Are we supposed to be getting hotels/finding people or does CLS do that for us :?

Eh, if you're going to clubs to see mainstream acts like Tiesto or Hardwell (which places like Pacha book) then ticket prices will be that high, but there are plennnnnty of opportunities to see great artists for decent prices in the city. Pretty stoked to experience it all, assuming I'll have the chance during 1L haha.

checking in (or whatever you say when you're mostly set on a school).
nothing to contribute to the rave/electro discussion, but whenever I go to a bar, dive or otherwise, it always ends with me getting wrapped up in a discussion about some guy's unfinished screenplay.
