I demand that you bring your dogs to law school events/out drinking. Demand.

I may still bring my puppy
That's the official policy, but if you check in the Ask CLS 1Ls thread it appears that the official policy isn't really enforced (esp. if you're in a single/studio).
(might be bringing my pet)

(definitely bringing my pet)
This is true. Also, I actually e-mailed Utley long before ever starting the housing process, and she said it's fine as long as I'm in an unfurnished single occupancy unit.

My demon beast will be at all of the law school events. All of them. But I'd feel like an unfit mother if I took her out to the bars.

So I got my housing assignment this morning (law school housing btw) and it was exactly what I wanted! But when I went back to the website, my assignment had disappeared and I can no longer access that tab. Temporary malfunction or something to worry about??

You must not have accepted quickly enough. Better luck next time.

Does anyone know if you have to use the furniture that comes with the furnished apartment shares? I really wanted unfurnished but didn't get it. I read somewhere that they may let you store at least the bed if you like?

This happened to someone in last year's thread and I think they got reassigned to a different unit. From what I remember, that person really hated the second assignment.
Does anyone know if the UAH apartments have air conditioning? (pleaseeee tell me they do)

In the "ask a 1L" thread, they pretty clearly stated that most (if not all) UAH apartments do not have central air conditioning. People generally get window units. Looking at the street view of the building I was assigned confirms this.

That's not the actual name of the thread. I was just too lazy to type the whole thing out: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=176925
ETA: the air conditioning situation is discussed on page 59.

no AC doesn't seem like it will turn your apartment into a hellscape...putting down some money for window unit seems like a good compromise for saving over 1k a month in rent. sweaty insomnia is the worst kind of insomnia though.

Re: renting a Cali love van and driving cross-country - Come August, I'd be old enough to rent a van and drive you babies. BUT, due to new developments, I'll just be flying out to the East Coast with family after all. Sorry this couldn't happen... doesn't mean an epic road trip just for funsies can't happen at some point in our law school lives...
Also, I'm on 111th as well! Google street-viewing like it's nobody's business and it looks pretty good. Any thoughts from ASWs welcome!

Longtime lurker checking in really late (I was traveling and then catching up at work) - excited to meet you all in August! I was offered an unfurnished studio in a building on Riverside between 116th and 119th this morning. I'm happy with the price/location but a little worried that there's some sort of catch. I did not make it to ASW - did anyone get to see any of these units?
My move in dates are 8/4-8/8; coming from the Bay Area. I'm old enough to rent a car...driving across the country with you folks sounds amazing but I already have plans through July.
Did anything come of the talk about a Bay Area meetup a few pages back? I'm down.

I'm still down for a Bay Area meetup, but it would have to be in July.

Sweet Cheezus, every day that goes by I get more and more anxious about my housing placement as more and more of you actually get assignments. I was approved 9 days ago

Sweet, I'm in LA but going to be making a trip up to the Bay Area to visit friends the last weekend in July. Maybe I can drop in on said meet-up if it really happens. Hopscotch in downtown Oakland's a cool spot.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I was assigned housing 5 days ago and the deadline to accept/decline is today, so I'm guessing after today there will be another wave of assignments.

Hi all - I'm now officially an ex-lurker. Just got assigned a 1BDR in 420 West 116th .... how grim is the building really? I'm also coming from CA, and apartment hunting in NY from the west coast sounds brutal.

My friends just called me to tell me they're coming to visit me that weekend. If they bought their tickets, I'm definitely going.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but to what address do we have our final transcripts sent?
