i dont think most of us are going to have winter classes so we shouldnt need books for that

Is there an option for in-store pickup instead of shipping? My undergrad allowed for this but I didn't know if NYU did as well.

Looks like no in store pickup, although they'll ship to dorms.

If you aren't going to buy it from NYU, make sure the ISBN# matches so you know it's the right one.

Barnes & Noble doles out some coupon codes (~20% off) if you are signed up to their free student account. Haven't had the time to shop on their website, but I'll let y'all know if the coupons help any.

holy fuck books are expensive

thoughts on renting/buying used/buying from bookstore?

I've heard from a few law students that buying used/renting is not a good idea for 1L year--will likely get marked up books that can be confusing to work with.

2L here -- and just wanted to throw in my two cents -- I wish I'd bought used books for all of last year. I only did second semester and it saved me a bunch of money. You can also specify on coases how much marking you're willing to put up with before you purchase.

Though personally I liked having marked up books for torts and LRS; it meant I was able to skim through a lot of reading very quickly. Also used books will often come cut (if you live off-campus, it sucks having to lug a giant casebook around so you'll want to get them broken into smaller bound versions).
