Explain. I'm confused.
lol yes, that's all mine, and with the amount of free food each was giving out, there could have been more. We bussed around to four complexes, and I also went on an optional bus ride to four more. One had a bluegrass group playing for us, one had wings, one had a box lunch (mind you, this was on the optional trip maybe 10 minutes after lunch), one had an ice cream truck outside, etc.

Also I'm pretty sure that I met at least a couple TLS'ers today
They also wrote to people and invited them to apply, after the December scores were released. Personal letter from the assistant dean.

This girl raises her hand for every question. The professor calls on her a couple of times at first. He stops calling on her and she literally interrupts him multiple times. He says: "okay, now you're speaking out of turn," to shut her up because he seriously couldn't complete consecutive sentences. She still raises hand for every question and the prof says "I'm not calling on you."

*gunmaster (despite all odds, suggestions, and opinions of man) continues to raise hand for EVERY QUESTION*

Finally, the professor (perhaps infatuated with her psychotic fucking persistence) calls on her for a YES OR NO question. "Well...why--" the professor stops her and says "no, you're answering not asking right now." Her response: "I don't know."

She also was writing, what I assumed to be, an accurate recording of every single word spoken in mock class. I can only assume that this is going to be later added to the next testament in the bible.

I sadly must have been in the other classroom. Was it the same girl who was asking most of the student life questions at the panel this morning?

Oh it was bad. She also transcribed every word spoken in the clinic panel as well.

No she was legit. I think she may have had some issues. Not sure how she slipped by admissions actually. Maybe Duke should start interviews. All in all she was the only strange person I met. Everyone else was extremely down to earth, friendly, and not gunnerish or pretentious in any way.

I second this. I was near her in the student life panel. She was taking notes about everything, and was extremely concerned about not being able to get a license to drive in NC. She was mumbling to herself when she wasn't getting called on.

Overall, great weekend and had a lot of fun meeting everyone.

lol wonderful

I think I saw that she went to Georgetown. Hope she continues that path.

I'm still really undecided on apartments. I know I want a 1BR or Studio, but a lot of the places today (especially on the optional downtown tour) were out of my price range as someone who has never paid more than $550/month in rent (low COL state). It would be between Pinnacle Ridge, Alexan Garrett, and a place around 6-7 miles out called Hawthorne at the View. Hawthorne is in the $600-700 range and still looks gorgeous, but I'm worried that I'll be removed from everyone else (it's right around a border with Chapel Hill). Still, it's only 10-12 minutes from campus and is right by my hotel.

Unrelated: I tried Q Shack at a current student's reccomendation bevause I'm here until tomorrow morning. While it was great, I wrongly assumed there would be a fork in the bag (and my hotel has none!), so not only did I lose my Q Shack virginity, but I did so like a savage with my hands.

Piggy-backing on your question (hope you don't mind), what was rent like in the area?

Super cheap! The places we saw today had 1 bedroom rates around $900, 2 bedroom rates at about $500 per person.

There were even 1BR in the 700-800 range as well. Overall everything was very cheap. I don't think there will be a lower COL school in the T14 from what I could tell.

The places they showed us were all pretty to extremely nice apartment buildings, and the rent ranged from about $800-1000/month (1BR) on the first tour and $1100+/month on the second. There are cheaper options, too, from $600-700 apartments, house rentals, etc. I use padmapper.com to search generally. If you're coming from a large city, you'll be blown away at what you get for the price, while if you're coming from a lower COL area, it should be roughly comparable.

I feel like being somewhere where there are a good amount of 1L's would be important to me, just for the whole "making friends" aspect. Also, since it seems like getting around on the weekends involves sharing cabs for the most part, being somewhere with other Duke 1Ls would be advantageous lol

Thanks for the responses all!

Comparing those prices to the other T-14 cities I had been looking at just made me die a little bit inside and Duke more appealing all at the same time. (I come from nowheresville)
