Re: Duke Class of 2017
Hey folks, if you're thinking about changing your license, don't fret too much. If you go to the DMV license center on Martin Luther King Blvd, near the Walmart, they don't always make you take the written test. I'm not sure if it's a new policy, or if it's just because they're often understaffed and overworked; to be safe, I'd go on a Saturday when there are a billion people there and 2 employees. You might be able to skip the written.

It also gives more details here:JingoFett wrote:If there are any current students on this thread, do you know if you need a license plate # to register with the parking pass? My old car died and I'm trying to find a new one but I don't want to miss out on a parking pass.
Edit: I called and they said you can change your license plate # later on FYI
Students who do not have a vehicle when they purchase a permit may enter their Duke Unique ID number in the license information section of the permit order form. When a vehicle and permanent license plate are obtained, students must update vehicle records within 10 business days. Update vehicle information at Manage My Parking Account.

+1 I know I was nervous about it. I set an alarm on my work comp and bought a pass at like 12:05....Wish I didn't have to pay for it through their billing system but whatever.Lady Crawley wrote:Same. The billing system is very inconvenient, but I'm glad it costs less than half of my undergrad pass. (Sn: GULC is +$800 / semester haha)KatyMarie wrote:+1 I know I was nervous about it. After paying close to $750/year for the past 6 years for school parking, completing this purchase just made my week.

Same, my UG parking was $850+ and you weren't even guarenteed parking. You were given permission to park in the garage, but they would frequently let randos pay to park there for sporting events and concerts downtown and if the lot filled up you were SOL.SplitMyPants wrote:After paying close to $750/year for the past 6 years for school parking, completing this purchase just made my week.

What??? I thought mine was insane at $200/semester (which I refused to pay). I just biked to school, and I almost did the same thing w/ Duke But I figure $150 or whatever for an annual pass is a good deal even if you don't use it every day.JingoFett wrote:Same, my UG parking was $850+ and you weren't even guarenteed parking. Regarding the fantasy league, we currently have 13 people who are interested. If we get one more, we could do a 14-person league.
If anyone else is interested, don't forget to sign-up:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1izDAfB ... I/viewform
If we get enough more responses, perhaps we can do 2 leagues.
Also, if we end up with 14, we can do a league poll on standard or PPR.

In the continuing spirit of appropriating this topic to find concert buddies, if there's anyone else interested in seeing O'Death (alt/gothic country/folk/americana/whatever) in Durham on Wednesday, Nov. 12, hit me up. $10, General Admission, The Pinhook.

I like team names based on one of my best players, so I'll wait to compete with you until after the draft.Serett wrote:Also, I'm firing shots in the best fantasy football team name battle.

I don't move until a week from now, but today I started listening to North Carolina's NPR station. This is starting to feel real.Serett wrote:57 degrees where I am right now. See you in a few days, Durham.

I think it's the first day of classes, but I cannot find an email or webpage to corroborate that...JingoFett wrote:Does anyone know when our loans get disbursed?
Edit: It's certainly not earlier, according to this page:

The date that I saw on ACES was Aug. 15, but I don't know if that's actually accurate or not.SplitMyPants wrote:I think it's the first day of classes, but I cannot find an email or webpage to corroborate that...JingoFett wrote:Does anyone know when our loans get disbursed?

Oh Right. I still need to submit my picture. Every time a situation like this comes up, I'm always tempted to do something weird, like put a temporary mike tyson style tattoo on my face just to see if they'll print it.Serett wrote:I won a wrestling match with the DukeCard submission program tonight.
