Hurrah! Geoff Tate is doing his farewell tour under the Queensryche name, and he'll be at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh on August 13. It's just General Admission (and only $25), so I already bought a ticket and will go alone if it comes to it (because I apparently lack both pride and shame), but if you (or anyone else, if there are somehow multiple other fans hiding here) would be interested in going, just shoot me a PM whenever to arrange it.

Shooting for Aug 1st. I guess it depends on leasing times though which most places say they'll have about 60 days in advance.

Also, I was unsuccessful with the scholarship negotiation. If anyone is interested just shoot me a PM for details.

Cool! I'll probably be signing an August 1st lease and be moving in around the same time.

We should organize some kind of meet-up that 2nd week of August! Probably through the Facebook group though and closer to time.

Got my ASW travel stipend in the mail today.

awesome....when did you send in the form?

I think I sent mine a couple weeks after the ASW and have not received the stipend yet.

So I just checked the c/o 2017 facebook group to see that it has over 300 members. I know there will be some waitlist movement upward, but still it seems high.

I know some 2/3L's joined to post helpful stuff. Also, I'd guess that some admitted students withdrew from Duke but haven't taken the time to leave the group yet?

Yeah, I didn't know how common it was to join when admitted (as opposed to when you commit), but I figure it does happen. On the other hand, I feel like there are probably at least some people that haven't joined at all for various reasons (work, etc.).

With that said, probably not worth looking that much into it. Just thought it was odd. Saw some of the other groups (UVA/Penn), and their numbers don't seem to be that misaligned from their typical class size. Anyway, I'm sure the numbers will work out.

There are A LOT of 2Ls and 3Ls in the group already so they can promote their events etc. For reference, the class of 2016 has 208 students but 320 members in the FB group.

Happy to say that I've finalized my decision and will be attending Duke in the fall!
