Is it appropriate to ask about the status of my offer or am I jumping the gun? I've got a seat deposit date coming up tomorrow at another school so I'm antsy.
(For the record, 167/3.87, initial offer 20k a year. Nothing that screams I DESERVE MORE MONEY but the initial quick response made me so hopeful)

First off tina, I absolutely love your avatar. Just brilliant. Secondly I confronted a similar problem and I just put my first deposit down at the other school. Especially if the other choice involves substantial scholarship, it's really worth to secure that for a while longer. If you're worried but the ethical nature of multiple deposits, just know that by the time that information is dispersed (who still has multiple deposits) you'll be in a position to withdraw those deposits (you'll have all the pertinent info). My .02

Thanks! Tina has been my spirit animal from the LSAT on, so it felt appropriate. That was pretty much in line with my thinking. Guess I'll just have to nut up and face a double deposit.

I'm not sure if law students are all allowed to live here, but I assume we are, and they have several other on-campus housing options other than Hughes for all graduate/professional school students...

Hope this helps! ^^

You can, but I wouldn't really recommend it. I know only one 1L who lived in Maplewood, and she transferred into Hughes at the first chance she got.

There are a ton of links in the first post.

Also, this seems like a decent deal:
MAapplicant wrote:For anyone looking for housing: 1BR apartment off of E. Buffalo St. and Stewart, which is less than a 1/2 mile from the law school (about an 8 min. walk to the law school). Landlord is great (rare to find in Ithaca) and the five other units in the building are filled with law students and Ph.d students. Rent is $1010 + utilities (~$30). No pets allowed. PM me if interested.

For apartment buildings: Collegetown Plaza, Collegetown Center, Eddygate, 312 College Ave. Less recommended because of distance: Collegetown Terrace/Casa Roma (E State St/S Quarry St) -- further away although there is a shuttle service, and you don't get cheaper rent despite the distance.

For rentals (houses, rooms in houses, etc.) I would recommend anything in Collegetown - Eddy St, Dryden Rd, College Ave, Catherine St, Cook St, Blair St, Linden Ave, Bryant Ave -- those are all very walkable and not too steeply graded. For the more adventurous, E Buffalo St and E Seneca St, Stewart Ave will be cheaper than Collegetown proper but come with steep uphill walks to Collegetown/campus.

Personally I would recommend living with at least another 1L, either in a house or multi-bedroom apartment, but to each his own.

no, no, no trying too hard is the prole move. pull a zuckerburg and they'll know you're not fucking around. Either that or this is equally acceptable:

Anyone care to enlighten me on how long it typically takes to receive a financial aid package after acceptance?

Haha, the brighter the shorts the more acceptable it is. Honestly might just do blazer, jeans and tie. Basically the "Young Republicans" look.

Bro you should listen to anyriotgirl. You have to properly balance your preftige oriented desires and the level of perceived striverism. I recommend merino wool pleated slacks, a grateful dead tshirt, and a fuck you hat

They've been pretty slow. But hell, their seat deposit deadline is next week... You should call.

1.5-3 weeks seems to be common.

See above. Although, the deadline is next Friday, so hopefully they'll be quicker.
