Re: Cornell Class of 2017
Got my scholarship package earlier this week and, even though I was told over the phone I have a week to deposit form the date of the offer, I don't have anything in writing. Will probably deposit today to be safe.
If I have a deposit in is that going to hurt my scholarship negotiations?

I submitted my housing application today. I know it's likely too late for Hughes, but what about Maplewood?

Actually word is that staying on the Hughes waitlist long enough will probably give you a pretty good chance to get in.Trippel wrote:I submitted my housing application today. I know it's likely too late for Hughes, but what about Maplewood?

No idea. Might as well try.koval wrote:If I have a deposit in is that going to hurt my scholarship negotiations?
At any rate, it should be ok to double-deposit: http://spiveyconsulting.com/blog/the-mu ... ot-happen/

Maplewood should be easy, but stay on the waitlist.

I'm starting to consider Hughes because finding housing within a mile of the law school for under $1k is proving to be difficult.

Nobody's ever linked to TLS in the 2016 group.

that was me. fuck it! This thread has been more helpful than what the admissions office was saying so I figured why not.
was that a social media faux pas or something?

Meh. it's not that big of a deal, but it's just normally not discussed in front of non-TLSers. I don't care if other TLSers figure out who I am on TLS. But on the fb group, I would always help by saying something like "I know a 2L who told me..." rather than immediately out myself as someone who posts on a law school discussion board.

How's it like to live in Hasbrouck as 1L? I googled and it says it's 24 minutes of walking, which I'm not very looking forward to do everyday.

Is 24 mins accurate? That's my walk to/from work every day!

roughly, depends on how fast you walk. it's all the way past north campus, past the townhouses up on its own. from my understanding it has a lot of families. the only redeeming thing I can say is that at least it's downhill to get to the law school. also this walk will seriously suck in the winter.cron1834 wrote:Is 24 mins accurate? But, for real, thanks. I probably won't decide if I'm coming until my June retake, so I'm freaked out about having to scramble for something on a few weeks' notice ...

Re: Cornell Class of 2017
Exactly. I'm from the Northeast and it's not the cold that particularly bothers me during winter, but the ice and snow. Fuck that shit.anyriotgirl wrote:haha then you'll pwn all the people who complain about 45 degree weather in april, or as I like to call it "shorts weather." I should have specified that my big area of concern is that a lot of the walkways on campus get icy/snow during the winter, more so than general coldness.cron1834 wrote:I'm from northern Minnesota. I think snow > rain for walking, though (PNW winters blow if you are a walking commuter).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
