No idea. Didn't have a TV in Hughes. I know a few people who did, but I don't know if they had cable. The TV in the red room did.

Ask either Housing or the GCA in the fb group?

Netflix doesn't have live sports. Cable is for live sports, not just boomers.

Live sports are one of the the last bastions of hope for cable TV and for that reason they continue to command exorbitant broadcast deals and advertising fees.

Have all of you received confirmation from Cornell that they have your Dean's Certification? My undergrad says they sent it to Cornell in May, but the Dean's Cert box is still unchecked on my status checker...

I know someone posted in the Facebook about buying books...but it looks like different instructors have slightly different book requirements...When/How do we find out which section we are in? and When should we have our books by?

Thanks!

prob 2d- 3rd week of august for assignments or so - check this thread lavitz has answered it a few times

you dont need books until a bit before classes. most professors will upload a syllabus with first day reading assignment - some do that, others dont. so youll need books in time for that, maybe a day or two before class.

Yes, and I'll answer it again: last year it was exactly one week before orientation. We just posted the myronslist link now in case any 2Ls wanted to unload their books before AJF. Also, there are a few books that apply to all profs in case you want to buy some now and some later. I just waited and then ordered used from Kraftees and the bookstore. Listserv probably would've worked just as well but they didn't add us to that until a few days before orientation. This year, we're trying to use myronslist as a replacement for the marketplace listserv.

So ~8/18 is when our 1L fates (aka circle of closest classmates) shall be decided. Got it.

I know you're half-kidding but don't worry about this at all. A lot of Cornell is very collegial, especially early on. Actually, mostly early on. If you think you want to go into this meeting people, do it. There are a million opportunities to go out early on to bars, hiking, watch sporting events, etc. People are excited. Don't feel limited by your section. The people that I am closest with from Cornell were not in my section, save one guy. I wouldn't say that's an uncommon experience.

Nah, not really. I mean, I'm friends with people from my section, but not any more than any other section, really.

Same. I put it on my bill so I can pretend it's just tuition.

Any idea how long it takes to appeal the health insurance requirement and what happens if I pay my bill before that process is completed? Tried to call the Student Insurance office, but their phones were super busy.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
